On engine reliability - the best GT3 motor was in the 996.

9A1 with its oiling issues will haunt resale in the years ahead. It is derived from the streets and improved upon for GT3R only.

Even in the back of the 991 GT3 brochure they discuss racing heritage, but all the pics are 997 for a reason...

I'm just guessing that when the 997 first came out, if there were pictures of racing heritage, they would all be 996. The 991 Cups weren't even being delivered at that point.

I hear you on the motor, but clearly that is not all that is developed over time. What about the rest of the car?

Since Porsche is apparently replacing those motors that had issue, I don't see a problem with future values. It didn't seem to affect the RS4.0 in any shape or form.
