17-19hp in exchange for throwing away the warranty on a $50K motor. Seems like a good tradeoff to me.

Tunes!

Can I install the tune from a thumb drive directly into my USB port in my glove box?

Friends don't let friends put "tunes" on their high-horsepower, naturally aspirated GT3s.

Last time I quoted a full motor was a Mezger and it was around 60K; was figuring with the production numbers and volume of replacements, they'd be a little cheaper. $1 to whoever pulls pricing form the dealer system.

Point remains: sub 17hp in exchange for risking a very expensive, high strung motor just doesn't seem worth it.

No, list is $80k, but it can be had for a discount - Sunset sells it for $67,276.58

My car had the engine replaced and the bill was $35k for the engine plus $5k for labor

That's for the 991.2 engine. What car do you have?

991.1

so a .2 replacement engine costs twice as much? That seems kind of crazy

Yes - I have done over 8000kms on an MC-Chip tune in Tarmac Rallying in my .2 RS. I had the optional 9000rpm rev limit (from the 8700).
It definitely felt like it had a bit more power and I had absolutely no problems at all.

I've heard that there is a $25K to $35K core charge. If a rebuildable engine isn't returned, then the new engine cost will be in the $65K to $75K range.
