Default Does anyone have straight exhaust?

In my quest for crazy sound from my GT, I'm considering adding a rear muffler bypass.

If I do this, I'll have pretty much straight open exhaust, save for 200 cell cats.

So, I'm looking to hear feedback from folks who are running wide open exhausts.

Currently I have headers, sport cats, side valved muffler bypasses and factory rear muffler. I'm also currently testing having the valves open all the time. And considering adding a valve controller to keep them open, closed, factory automatic operation.

Thanks all!

PS-
And before you tell me all about the loss of low end torque, I understand how back-pressure works. While not a mechanic, I was working on cars since 10, attended 3 years of automotive science via vocational school...and had my ASE curt for a few years. Now all of this was ~20-28 years ago...and now I shake hands for a living. Lol. But I still understand the BASICS of a combustion engine.

For noise I feel like the cup car side delete pipes produced the best single noise change- including the center section. Doing the whole race exhaust will eventually have a lot more droning or harmonics at freeway speeds than I am willing to tolerate.

My 3.8 with side deletes was insanely loud but didn't sound like a ricer- it sounded like an RSR.

I would love to hear it. If you track you won't pass sound restrictions if the have one. I know amp does.

Did it on my Gt3, very, very loud. RS arrives in a few weeks and will be fitting it up to the RS as well.

If you decide to try adding a center muffler bypass, I think the RSS would sound amazing in conjunction with your side deletes. I think the RSS is the best sounding center delete on the market currently. But the GMG and Sharkwerks both sound great also.

I chose GMG-center delete, a bit deeper than SW and a nice gurgle. It's quite a bit louder than stock and love it. Any louder might start to annoy me.

We just installed that (headers; OEM or otherwise, 200 CEL cats, and and that's it) on one of our customer's GT3. It sounds sofa king awesome!

We've also done headers, CEL cats, side muffler delete pipes, and cup car center muffler. Not as loud but better performance.

Depending on the application we will use either OEM or Motorsports headers and OEM or Motorsports center muffler.

CJ is spot on, they don't sound ricer-like at all, very RSR.

I have the side muffler delete, and I'm running sharkwerks center delete. The car sounds crazy good, noticeably louder. But it definitely drones at highway speeds. I have a friend who just did the side muffler delete, and left the stock center and it sounds great with minimal to no drone. But I'm not ready to change mine out yet.

I chose the BBi Autosport straight pipe side deletes. Don't want to deal with CEL. They are being installed next week if they make it to me in time. I think it might be what you are looking for. It makes the car sound even more like a race car but as stated above not a ricer sound, more of RSR sound.

Not sure if you caught this from my OP:

...Currently I have headers, sport cats, side valved muffler bypasses and factory rear muffler. I'm also currently testing having the valves open all the time. And considering adding a valve controller to keep them open, closed, factory automatic operation...

So I essentially have full side deletes right now as I've got the valves fully open.

Lol!

Yeah... I've heard that set-up! Sounds sick!

I've decided to give Fabspeed's MaxFlo mufflers a try first as I would like to retain the use of the valves to cut down on drone and also keep within the sound level specs of certain tracks. Hopefully it gives me what I want for an additional $2k....on top of what I've already spent!
oh well....if you want to play, you to to PAY!
