Slightly OT: 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo S vs. 2016 Audi R8 V10 Plus
Which car would you pick? I'd most likely go for the new R8 V10 Plus for the following reasons:
1. N/A V10 with a high rpm redline.
2. Mid-engine instead of rear-engine.
3. Much better sound.
4. More "visceral" (the 911 Turbo S is bit of a softy in most ways).
5. Faster or at least as fast.
6. Better handling(?).
I'm sure there are more than I am not thinking of right now.
Note: I'm talking about the 991.2 Turbo S (facelifted) that has 580 hp.

I would pick the Porsche. Because the Porsche is a Porsche and the Audi is still an Audi.

This is a very theoretical exercise... Neither would be my answer. Otherwise, I'd own one or both. That said, in this alternate world, I'd pick the Audi since I already have a GT3 RS and a Panam GTS from the P-car people.

Tough question - No right or wrong. Have owned an R8 V10 and also a 997.2 Turbo. Although both new models have quite a bit more power they do drive very differently; although I see them both as GT-type of cars meaning very comfy for every day userbility. I would probably take the Audi if you do not mind the attention and a little more exclusivity because you do not see many R8s on the road.

Need rear seats go with 991 Turbo. Don't need them, go drive the new Mclaren 570s, I would definitely take it over the R8 and 991 turbo.

I can't be the only one that don't see these two cars as competitors. Just because they're both AWD and near the same price range, they're different cars. It's like the Z/28 vs Z06 comparisons.
The Turbo has back seats and can be a makeshift family coupe. The R8 is a true 2-seater that is marketed as a softer alternative to its cousin yet still has the exotic looks to catch all that attention. Regardless of badge, if you do the "hot, non-car enthusiast" girl test, she will pick the R8 because it "looks" the part. Ironman drove it! The Turbo, albeit a Porsche, looks like a C2 to her which may potentially be seen practically everyday depending on where you live.

I spent a good amount of time with the new R8 when it was launched, I really was unimpressed with it as it just looked and felt dated to me. I would actually look at a used Huracan instead, even though I'm not a lambo fan, they're already being advertised in the $230k range, so I'm sure you can get one pretty much new.
For me it would be used 650S, used Huracan vs TTS and come down to if I needed the back seat or not. I need a car with one, so ordered a Targa GTS as I think it is the ultimate grand tourer 911.

I disagree that the Audi brand is a negative. Massively successful over the last 2 decades in Motorsports - including the most dominant run ever at Lemans.
Turbo S, Huracan and 570s/650s are great cars and an argument can be made for why each is better than the other. One of the attractive elements of the R8 for many buyers is that it flies under the radar - similar to the Turbo S, but the Audi is far more exclusive. I see Turbos every other day, see an R8 maybe once a month.

This is so easy: go look at and drive both. One will call out to you, then buy it. We are so lucky to be in an era where so many great cars are available. You are writing the check, buy what you like... Who cares what a bunch of losers who spend too much time on the computer each day typing onto message boards have to say!
