Personally, I don't have a problem with the color of the side inlets, as much as I do with the materials.
In fact, I think black is fine and probably the right choice as it gives the car a certain rakish look to it, and matches the other black exterior trim pieces.
It would be nice, however, if they were carbon fiber. Heck, even GM is able to fit the CTS-V with an OEM carbon fiber splitter. A part of the car that's going to see alot of more hazardous road conditions than side inlets or rear quarter panel intakes.

I remember seeing some for sale in carbon, but they're quite expensive..
