It seems like McLaren's current product plan is this:
1. Use 2 types of Monocells: Type 1 for super series. Type 2 for sport series and lesser cars.
2. Seems that they have one motor with varied power levels. I'm not sure they will ever offer a NA engine.
3. Manual tranny and McLaren is not going to fly.
4. The swing up doors will stay with all models.
5. Can a low priced McLaren be too exotic for everyday? "No overtime this holiday season Charlie"...then swing open the door to your 570S and drive off. Uh...not going to work here either.

I agree that they will not do manual transmission. this is a formula 1 technology company and will not go that far back to the past in this regard. they are all about pushing the envelope.

Finally A car I would pick over a Porsche 991 TTS:

I was on the same page but at this points I would like to see what a GT2RS PDKS would be like.
But then I like V8 Turbo's better than flat six turbo's... The 570GTseems like a wash and wear McLaren. If they could only get rid of the goofy doors..

I test drove a 570S last month. Electronics and interior design are significant improvements over the 650S and 12C. I think the acceleration is on par with the 12C. The car I saw had a sticker of $215K. I think it might be too expensive, considering there are lot of clean and low miles 650S selling for $220K (may even lower). Also, the leasing sucks. They finally have a closed end lease, but the money factors and residuals are horrible. I compared it against Huracan. Huracan with price of $280K - 20K dealer discount had a similar lease payment compared to 570S.

I personally don't like the 570S. It feels noticeable "cheaper" than the P11 (12C/650S/675LT) and removes some of the important tech. I don''t understand why everyone raves about the interior. It doesn't feel nearly as special, and I don't have any issue lifting my feet over the original tub silll.
Leftover new '15 650S can be had for 100k discount off MSRP. That's the car to get instead of a 570S.

Not a fair comparison because the Porsche is a 4-seater. I would take the R8 v10 plus and the LP580-2 over this.
I think that market segment has become crowded rather quickly and with this market slow down they will be cutting deals towards end of year unless they keep production numbers low.
Hence- if Porsche was smart they would pump another 300-500 RS cars to NA because those Customers are not going to settle for a Turbo S

Really? 570S residual is 64% on a 3 year 5mile/yr lease. This is better than just about any Porsche...

Are you sure the quote you got is a closed end lease? Open ended leases are cheaper.
