VLN1: Race delayed + shortened because of fog
VLN2: Race red flagged after 1/2 a lap - not restarted because of snow
VLN3: Tomorrow. What could possibly go wrong?
We where lucky this week with our VLN car: During a trackday the fuel line broke inside the fuel tank and my codriver spun in his own juices in Hocheichen.
He was lucky that he didn't hit the barrier and that he wasn't hit by any other car.
Now it is fixed and we are ready for whatever Mother Nordschleife throws upon us. (I might regret these words)
193 cars in the race (so far)
453 drivers
Some of these drivers probably planned to do the Nürburgring 24H race and might need to get more laps and a result that is god enough for them to get their Nordschliefe License A (DPN A).
I wonder how that will pan out in the race. (You must be amongst the 75% first of your class in the race for the race to count from a license A perspective.)
It looks like it is going to be a wet race - Except for the snow last race there hasn't been a wet race for more than 2 years in VLN.
Race starts 12.00 CET
German live stream
There is a english livestream too but I cant find it as of now.

Im thinking positive thoughts re: the weather this weekend. Rain might actually be good for you, but either way, I hope they can run the full race.

Every time I see that blue I regret settling on the color of my car. I sincerely like my cars color, but envious of that blue. every. single. time.

Just picked up the car from Manthey: They've installed the KW's and added som more angle to the the wing. Car has a nice ride height now. Feels really good on the roads - not bumpy or stiff - just nice. Car hasn't been on track yet. Maybe tomorrow evening after the VLN race. The shocks adds some new nice sound effects to the car
New discs for the RS.

Me too Kobalt, can't quite tell them apart on photos though. Saw a couple of different shades in person whilst in Europe and loved them. More vivid than Miami blue in my eyes... Just hard to identify with an untrained eye 😉

She looks amazing, the ride height is low for a 991.1, more like a 991.2... perfect!

I hated the old 4x4 stance it had before.
@TRAKCAR Done a couple of laps in the dry with the KW's and I have the impression that the car now behaves a bit more like my 997 when I lean on it. It has some really nervous behaviour in some situations on the track - it is moving sideways in a way I don't like. Don't think it is the suspension though - could be in my head. I like the sound they make
The race itself was amazing/fun/terrifying. We made it to the end. Co-driver did the first 9 laps I the 10 last.
We ended up at 13th of 24 in class which made us really happy as this opens up the door to the Permit A license. (Drive bigger cars and the N24)
We started on rain tires, switched to regular semi-slicks (street tires) when I started my stint but It started to rain again after a few laps and it became really dangerous so I swtiched to our Dunlop rain tires.
What a difference! Suddenly it was fun to drive. Unfortunately it dried up and 3-4 laps was more or less on a complete dry track. I never driven rain tires like this and that was certainly interesting.
It was like someone put on narrow old winter tires with 4 inches sidewalls. Sketchy and mushy.
@DaveGordon I don't remember right now: It is a brake specialist in Nürburg who did them for me.
We learn a lot again in this race. Now we now where the penalty box is (45s stop and go because co driver missed a Code-60. It was impossible to the Code-60 because of the rain and the spray).
I suspect Engeljizzle was even happier: 10th in his first VLN! Congrats!

Look forward to hear more about VLN and how it all works. It's the ultimate in endurance racing.
On the Manthey setup, they must know what a good setup is?
For me, when the stiffer setup throws the car around more, it's unsettling but even on the worst at Sebring the car doesn't get bumped off line. It's amazing how it holds on, some with .2RS a lot more violent over bumps but it doesn't let go.
