Chris Harris: GT3 RS vs. Aston GT12 vs McLaren 650S
For what it's worth, I think he's absolutely right. Hats off to anyone on this board who was lucky enough to buy an RS at MSRP, but for anyone -- dare I say it? -- stupid enough to pay $300k USD for a GT3 RS, perhaps there's a touch of delusion involved? I don't have $300k to spend on a car, but if I did, I would be looking at the McLaren as well (and this is coming from a GT3 owner).

I was impressed when I drove a MP4 on track. McLaren does offer some special cars.

i agree with ch. i would rather have an ordinary version of a special car than special version of ordinary car.
rather than macca, i would go for a 458. then put on trofeos with suspension adjusted for track work and have unbeatable looks, sound, speed, balance that expect for $300k
rs is awesome but would not pay over list for it. as matter of fact rs isnt worth the extra $50k over gt3 to me. at 1/2 price of 458, gt3 is attractive. at $300k, rs is not there for me

This puts into perspective the option of paying $100k markup for an RS or buying a McLaren. For the same money, buy the McLaren is the conclusion.
Perhaps that provides some motivation to Porsche to satisfy demand so mark ups don't happen. Of course people with means will still buy the inventory so, it makes no difference in sales. But, long term, a regular Porsche buyer of the masses, may move to other manufacturers if we can't get what we want without paying a mark up.
Dan (prefers GT3 over RS regardless but would like the option w/o $100k adj)

I think Porsche is doing nothing wrong by limiting the RS supply.
This will make regular GT3 even more of a bargain. And they are not limiting GT3 supplies.
2016 gt3 allocation are out there also many 14 and 15 cars for sale.
Porsche has to have some special cars like the RS to help the brand image.
The last thing they want is that people see them as BMW,Mercedes, or Audi.

There are still 2016 GT3 build spots/allocations available?? I was under the impression that all 16's are spoken for and that there will be a limited number of 16's produced compared to 2015. Anyone else chime in?

I too longed after the RS, however.
I have a 2015 GT3 and it is the best car I have had to date. The other point is that I drive it on mountain roads where it shines and would the RS be better. The McLaren is very nice but the driving position of my GT3 is so good and feed back from every part of the car makes me feel at one with it.
Yes, there is always something to long for but I going to call this one good and not switch.
