Default M3 Limerock to 991 GT3

To everyone here trading in a E92 M3 Limerock edition for a 991 GT3 would be an easy decision. Trading in the M3 wasn't a tough decision as I really wasn't impressed with its low end torque but I did like its handling. I struggled with a Porsche turbo(s) or GT3 and whether a 991 or a 997 model. After a year or so of off and on indecision I test drove a 991 GT3 and fell in love with it the moment I mashed the pedal on a straight away. The turbo S while fast as heck it seemed heavy...although it was 997 model.

So getting to the point, I pulled the trigger and purchased a 2015 agate grey GT3. I did not get the front axle lift and so far it hasn't been a problem. I have not had a chance to take it out and push the car yet.(I want to install a radar and laser jammer) They are legal here in Florida. I plan on doing so soon. Just driving it around town is incredible and it is hard to keep it within the speed limit as it seems to have a mind of its own. Incredible car! It isn't a daily driver. I love driving it and can't wait for the weekend so I can get behind the wheel. I intend to take it to the track in a few months after I recover from my back surgery. Thanks for this forum...it is one of the best I have joined.

As a former E92 M3 owner I will say welcome! The E92 is certainly the highlight of the range of M3 models excepting the first edition E30, BUT it is not a GT3. You will understand in a month or so as the GT3 performance envelope is further explored or if you take it to the track. While the E92 cannot be beat as an all around performance car, it does not ultimately come close to the experience you get with the GT3 in any type of performance driving.

That is a huge step up, congrats! As a former e92 M3 owner, I agree with you about the modest low-end torque. How are you finding the low-end torque on the GT3?

P.S. Looks-wise, I think an agate GT3 is leaps and bounds better than a Lime Rock M3... that fire orange was far too much for me on that car.

991 GT3 = approx 2 X $ of the Lime Rock.

My Agate Grey GT3 is due to be built next week. I can't wait. Congrats and let's see some pics of your GT3.

Former E92 owner and lover here as well. My next car purchase will be another E92. I'll fix that torque issue with ESS VT2-625. Congrats on the 991 GT3. Hope to see around.

Not an M3 but a previous E60 M5 owner. I was attached with that car because it was my first 100k car and i felt that it was the last car for me. I traded it in to my GT3 and I drove 500 miles to the dealership and it was hard. But it gave me a last long drive. I wish I could keep them all.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. When I get a chance I will post pictures. I agree the Fire Orange was a little much for my tastes but the limited edition convinced me to buy it although it really wasn't so limited.

The torque on the GT3 is more than enough but I haven't driven it enough to rev the engine out to 9000 rpm. It's plenty quick regardless and more responsive than the Limerock. Different cars of course.

I recently purchased a 2015 GT3, trying to get to 2000 miles as quickly as possible and feel the 9000 rpm. The GT3 is my first Porsche and what a way to join the club.

Currently on my second E92 M3, keeping the M3 as my daily driver as I still enjoy the car a great deal.
