I don't know man. Just test drove a M4 for a DD purpose. So that I won't have to drive GT4 as much as I did with GT3 that I just sold. I had 9000 miles in GT3 in 8 months! Anyway, I find the M4 extremely disconnected. I thought I was driving a Lexus. No joke here! In fact, that was no engine or muffler noise until 4K. I was driving a convertible too and still no sound of engine/exhaust. The turbo lag is also very obvious which I think have to do with manuals.... I don't know...I have been scratching my head about getting a DD before GT4 arrives in late Nov. Plus the interior of the M4 was exactly the same as my old 335is which btw sounded amazing and have almost no lags.
Having said all that, I rather drive a GTR...again.

I have an M4 as my DD... I's a great DD, needs exhaust desperately, but even with the exhaust the engine sounds like hell. I truly hate the sound of it. All the tech, the ride quality, etc are great. But the cold start sound especially is awful. It literally shakes the house with this lawn mower type sound.
I am taking it to AMP tomorrow morning to explore it on the track a bit. The car is fabulous overall, but agree it's a bit numb. I have dinan stage 2 singature package on it. The dinan suspension made the ride much more connected, the intake introduces some sound, the tune adds an unnecessary power bump, the exhaust is a letdown. AWE exhaust is where it's at for the F8x series. It's still only so-so as a drivers car. Of course, easy to be spoiled by our GT3's. The M4 is so much different. Turbo lag is there, but the rush when all that stuff spins up is pretty amazing.
I'll keep it a bit longer, but I'd be lying if I said my eye hasn't wandered towards a 2016 S6 at times.

I haven't read the entire thread, but that wing looks horrible IMO! I just can't believe a high end German automaker would let that come out of the factory like that! It absolutely looks like it's a cheap aftermarket wing that a ricer would bolt on a Civic, along a fart can exhaust.

I had my m4 at AMP today and really enjoyed myself. Leaned on the car quite a bit. The only gripe is the body roll vs a GT3. But i got used to it. I started to really push it and have not found the limit yet. Was at 126mph on the straightaway, which was much faster than i expected. It did really well. Stock brakes are pretty good. Didn't get any significant fade.
It's no GT3 but i went straight from the track to the golf course, then picked up two kids and a few groceries on the way home. Amazing combination of dd / track capabilities.

Boy, that thing is hideous!
I don't see why BMW even bothers with these models. It's like the Bentley GT3-R - take a luxury car and take out all the luxury. Now you have a car that has no clue what it is, and can't even carry 4 passengers.
