Ive started to look into rigs for Iracing but I’m searching for a turn key package, if that exists.
need to make some time for this.

Never worked so hard to be zero productive LOL.
I read a good thread a month or so ago here on Rennlist about racing simulators, and there seem to be some great options available. You can search for the thread, but from what I remember, the price for a good one is 30-80k. Nevertheless, racing simulators will be the future if the country is locked down every other year for every potential infectious threat that comes from Asia, or elsewhere. . . .

Without being able to straddle the grip limit with my butt dyno simulated racing doesn't even enter the same category of activity as real racing for me. I wouldn't be using the same noun, really.

Check out VR Motion Labs. Most realistic sim I've found without completely blowing up the bank account. Owner is a PCA Sim racer to boot. A good sim will deliver 80% of the sensations of real racing with hardly none of the downside (cost & time sink, risk, expense).

Peter shoot an email over to Matt Muller, he was at the 48hrs under the tent with us working as a coach, Australian fellow. His specialty (other than coaching) is building turnkey sim packages. Think of him as the Gavin of sims, he knows his **** and you’ll get the best return on investment for a high quality rig.

End of an era. Peter, we have to do ED and SH again once this all passes. Just imagine if we had airmailed the RS's as planned!

This is a great idea - very concerned about a cold start to a rebooted season. I did use a fairly basic drivetech VR simulator preseason and that proved very helpful - I'm actually kicking myself that I didn't buy a set up ~ they are about 5K all in, so in the scheme of things not bad value at all. That VRmotion setup looks next level.

Trakcar, hope it all works out for you - park the media, stay positive - this will end.

In terms of turn key packages - there are a lot of systems that are crazy expensive. Lots of money - particularly if you find out that it's not fun for you! Although I suspect that you will have a lot fun with it. On most days you will see numerous pro drivers on iRacing. Was once at Lime Rock in the Porsche Cup car with Max Verstappen on the track at the same time.

It's not difficult to set up your own racing rig. If people struggle - it's with the computer and the devices connected to the computer. Buy a gaming computer and have the "Geek Squad" come to your home to set the system up. For thse sake of simplicity, buy the Fanatec direct drive wheel (P1)and club sport v3 brakes. If you find that you are having a blast with iRacing, you'll end up wanting to upgrade the brake pedals. Buy the racing rig from Sim-Labs. It's made out of 80/20 aluminum and bolts together. All in, less then $5,000,

Which pedals except the v3 would you suggest?

Can someone explain how you trail-brake into a turn without any g-force input to your body? How do you know how much grip you have to work with? How do you even know how much you are slowing down when you apply the brake? From the speedo, or from the surroundings that move slower around youthan before?

I’m intrigued by sim racing and its popularity, especially when I see the prices people are paying for some of these rigs. I’ve tried demos at car shows and I could barely keep the car on the track due to lack of g-force inputs. Is it just a matter of retraining your other senses (vision) to compensate for lack of g-force? I must be missing something...

Kobalt - would suggest the Heusinkveld sprint pedals. Just about everyone finds them to be a significant upgrade from the Fanatec V3 brakes.

You also need a rig that is rigid. I would suggest a rig from Sim-lab which is based in Europe. It's made out of 80/20 aluminum. Rigidity is important - it allows for the tranfer of feedback from both the wheel and pedals.

You will feel visually the back end of the care starting to rotate/step out when done correclty. A direct drive wheel will also provide feedback. The fast sim guys to this very well. There are also motion systems that will simulate this - but they are very costly

I can't explain exactly what you asking for but I imagine you need to work on your vision to get a good experience - something you'll probably will use when driving in real life too.

VR can be nice to use unless you get motion sickness.

I am slowly transitioning to VR, its amazing but I get motion sickness after awhile. It gets better every session I run but it can creep up on you quickly.

It seems as having a motion rig makes it easier for the brain to use VR.

I don't get motion sickness: been sitting next to my wife on the Ring reading emails on my phone. Wonder if I also will get sick using VR - probably :-).

Motion rigs are $$$$. 20k+ easy for a turn key, like CXC or sim experience. Certainly cheaper than a race car and consumables, but it's not that cheap for start up.
