As in the aftermarket bars?

Some just weld or bolt them to the floor. Without reinforcement in the area first. So on the first roll over, the cage will punch right throw the sheet metal, the cage will survive in one piece though.

Body in white for Europe and RoW cars have built in reinforcement around the mount locations.

The proper shop will reinforce the mounting spots first before mounting their bars. If a shop says there is no need, RUN to the next shop.

Mindboggling. How would it be illegal for the body in white in NA to be the same as it is in Europe and RoW? Which laws/rules would that be breaking exactly? And to prohibit crucial OEM safety gear such as rollbars in a 500+hp sports/track monster because someone MAY not wear a seatbelt and MAY bang their thick head against the bar?! Everyone’s so much safer this way. Stunning thickness...

Great read, looking forward to Spa and Ring impressions.

Any idea of how efficient the Soul tips are at reducing dB? Any before/after measurements?

It wouldn't be illegal for the body in white to have the reinforcements. Porsche removes them intentionally to dissuade N. American owners from retrofitting the factory bar (because of legal liability concerns here).

What about legal liability resulting from selling a 500+hp track car (with seats fixed upright) not only without an OEM roll bar but with a body that was purposefully made unsafe to install one after-market? I'd worry much more about this liability if I was a Porsche lawyer.

It might be counter-intuitive (and counter-productive for those of us owners who want a bar), but Porsche is not legally liable for damages arising from modifications made by a third party after sale (at least this is probably their rationale).

Then how does serving NA with the same (reinforced) body in white as in Europe and RoW expose them to liability?

The aftermarket bars (GMG, BBi, Cantrel etc.) mount to the bulkhead instead of factory clusport bar location. No reinforcement needed for those.

It's a small difference, but it forces people in N. America to use a bar made by a 3rd party aftermarket company, rather than the OEM bar...

These are the only 3 (Last) laps of Assen, I'm sure its a terrible laptime, but I only had 3 laps to sort out brake points and cornering limits before getting permanently black flagged.
The whole 3 hours prior I had to short shift at 5000RPM...

Ready to go tomorrow, 800 miles to Nogaro.
New tires, extra pads, oil, car now fully wrapped and VBOX all sorted.
Left the factory setup because many street miles.

An RS owner in FL tested them at high rpms from 50ft netting about a 4db reduction. He wis doing a full writeup that we'll post in our Custom Tip thread
