^^is there a speed limit that goes from just paying to being on TV and on the front page on the autoroute?

Well, from 40 km/h above they take your license away, 50 above your car too (only if you're the owner I was told)...
Might just apply to EU-inhabitants. Better not set an example. Safe travels!

+20 to +30 km/h is safe for someone without French driving license. But it is easier to have some € with you to pay a fine on the spot, if needed.
So stay under 160 km/h and it should be fine.

I know, this is boring on a nice empty autoroute.

The French autoroutes are well marked for radar and waze will tell you when you are in such a zone. Watch your speed in these zones obviously. Outside of that I followed the flow and through open country we were cruising mostly at 160 to 180 kph with other cars. YMMV.

So if you want to limit the RS to 400 NA copies to get your dearly beloved OEM roll bar, have at it.

On our way ...

The fun police ...

We're making good progress on our way down to Nogaro. We got cracking at 6am this morning and we are probably half way there now although progress has slowed since we now have a police car in front of us, keeping us in check 🙄🙄👮

We'll likely be the only RS in history with over 3500km after the first week post delivery when tomorrow comes 😁😁 🚗💨

Time for a little cultural page.
Don't confound the Police and the Gendarmerie, in France. Even if their main missions are similar, there are differences.
The biggest difference is that the Gendarmes (from Gens d'Armes, people in arms) are military and can intervene everywhere in France.

Not sure if the photo was taken at a track...but if not, would suggest you remove your towing hook. Its illegal to drive on the road in Europe with one. All you are going to need is one testy police man to pull you up and fine you.

Peter - Just want to say what a pleasure it is to read about your trip, appreciate your single-minded pursuit of wringing out the best in you and the car, and enjoy the experience vicariously on the forum.

I remember your posts last year when you thought you might not get a RS.2, and shared your discouragement, and now look at you!

Very happy for you!

if you are headed to Switzerland as a friendly heads up be attentive of the speed limits (I'm sure you are already aware)

nearly a year later (a couple weeks ago) I got a speeding fine in the mail to the tune of 770 Swiss francs with my mug and car/plates on the ticket

Noted and thank you, but shouldn’t you always give them something easy to write up?

If they find me they earned it.
But yes, no speeding in Switzerland
