Default One Year In, All that GMG Has Been Done to Make the GT3 Our Own…

It’s a great time if you love Porsches. Between the new RS, the 991 GT3 being out for a year, and all that there is to learn, the time came for us to buy a Project GT3 of our own and see just what our 15 years of experience has brought to the table, and in turn continue to develop a line of products for our fellow Porsche lovers.

While portray our primary efforts onto out client's car's first, this year we have finally made it a point to showcase our own machine, outside of professional series. This allows us to shed some insight as to what the the ongoing efforts we put into making products for the enthusiasts.

So with that said, here is how it all began……

Here is our very own 991 GT3 that just freshly arrived here at GMG. We have big plans for this car as it enters its first phase utilizing GMG 130R wheels and our signature 991 GT3 center bypass.

When it comes to exhaust, we’re proud of the product we’ve developed. We were the first, outside of Porsche Motorsport, to develop our own 997 exhaust system that was accepted and homologated for World Challenge series competition, and we applied that same experience to this latest edition. With a carefully tuned sound, GMG has been able to utilize the stock exhaust valves while still allowing for an improved, incredibly sporty exhaust note.

Paired with our light-weight, fully-forged monoblock 130R wheels, and we were able to shave off weight at each corner while still providing a more aggressive stance.

The second phase of our 991 GT3 tuning starts with the GMG 991 GT3 LMS roll/harness bar. This bar is a direct bolt-in which requires no chassis cutting or drilling, while still allowing for a much more rigid chassis by connecting four points of the chassis together and having a reinforced cross brace section in the main hoop. This design, once again, comes from our years of professional racing with Porsche, and of course working hand-in-hand with our close partners and 'across the street neighbors'at Porsche Motorsport North America.

Our third phase consisted of achieving more durability and performance out of the braking system both on and off the track. Brembo, a familiar partner of ours for many years, has provided us with our very own set of new two-piece slotted rotors, front and rear, and ST20 brake pads which allowed us to have a more consistent brake pedal feel under hard braking conditions as well as allowing us to complete more laps at once with minimal brake fade, which in turn means more time spent on the track vs. in the pits.

With the new GMG center section exhaust the car has finally been given a bark to match the size of it’s bite! With our recently installed Brembo rotors and pads, the braking system felt neutral and consistent throughout the day with very little rotor/pad wear.

Here is a write-up on the Brembo brake install and testing.

It is without question that we bring our best efforts in racing, including taking a 991 to victory in three of the last six World Challenge GT Cup event, but on the street GMG is proud of our ever-growing racing pedigree and using that to develop the best performance parts on the market.
This June, we participated in the recent 2015 Gold Rush rally as well as held our yearly GMG Open House , featuring dozens of project cars and many of our closest vendors.

Being active in the grassroots Porsche community, we have help track days for the public with both entry-level drivers as well as some local track veterans!

Thermal Club track days:

That’s it for now but stay tuned for more updates, and we will hopefully see many of you at Rennsport Reunion coming up in two weeks! We will also be making a big announcement at the event, so stand by for that as well.
Thanks again to all RL members for your continued support!!

The GMG review on the 991 GT3 RS. We took two cars to the Thermal Club (http://www.thethermalclub.com/) where we gathered the data for this test. This is the course we use for all of our testing and allows us to measure performance changes when making changes while always having the course and configuration as the constant variable. In the video, one car is outfitted with our center section exhaust, headers, and alignment setup while the other only has our center section exhaust, and factory alignment/ride height specs. The results of the test are in the video below:

Thanks guys! And YES, Motorsports is what drives our product development! We have been racing Porsches professionally for the last 10+ years with Customer Racing and Driver Development as the 2 components that allow us to perform the R&D needed to design and develop products that we feel are worthy to be installed on Porsches best offerings.

We have also learned a lot from running the young and talented Alec Udell in our 2015 991 GT3 Cup Car, and again, all that experience translates into more data and information that we can use to benefit our clients.

A recent pic from our latest testing day at The Thermal Club where we continue to gather data. Tire pressures are extremely important on this car with the Trofeo R's and really affect the balance of the chassis.

Kevin's GT3 in the background with the same prep level and an all while Matte Wrap.....
