Turns out that although it's relatively rare; it's not that unique amongst its 997 brethren other than a two wheel drive turbo.

I found that I'm not in love with turbos. My '15 M6 is a turbo. Gobs of power and a great DD. The gt2 is not a DD by any measure.

I don't hold onto cars as investments. I just enjoy them when I can. The gt2 just didn't inspire me. I tried to fall in love with it. It didn't happen.

I found I'm a NA motor type of guy. I love the roar of the NA system. Sure it has less power overall, but the gt2 just spun its wheels in every gear and quite frankly wasn't that practical. It literally went nowhere really fast.

I'm a gt3 guy. I raced my '04 RSR like it was stolen. Sold it for a profit. I don't miss any of the cars I've had or the potential value I might have gained had I held onto them.

Long story short. (I know, too late)....traded it for a 2015 GT3. No remorse here. It's like getting a new girlfriend. We all remember how that was, right?? Nothing better.

Get the car you want. Never lament any choice over keeping or selling/trading
Haha well said! I agree with you, the important thing is you're enjoying the car.

Osu s2k: If you think you're done with the gt2 then replace it with a 991. For me, if selling or trading came into my mind with a car that I have... Then it won't last 6 months that's for sure. It means I'm not 100% with it anymore

I agree w the usable power fir the street issue, for me its too much and an awd turbo maked more sense to put down the power with more confidence. I was looking at replacements last night and my local dealer took in a maclaren on trade. Might look at that since price point is nearly the same as a new gt3

MP4 or 650S? I think that's a better option compare with the GT3

Been following your 997 GT2 interest. Congrats on getting the car! I have now seen my 991 GT3 RS; picking it up the next sunny day. Not sure how I'd feel with PDK still.

Will be taking it to the track, city driving, and spirited driving within the next 2 weeks. Can give you REAL feedback then.

For me, I think about my old 7.2 GT3/RS and my '08 GT2 more than this new RS. ALL 997 GTx were all special to me.

Sometimes the gt2 feels too good, too fast, too capable......its like when you take it out its all business. i ve said it many times i routinely have more fun driving my first sportish car(s2000) 8-9 tenths on the street being able to ring out to 9k and not get in jail trouble.

Mp4 no miles, white....definitely more exotic but we dont have a dealer nearby for warranty work....i feel i can fill my porsche needs with the 996tt and the 76 930(which is raw visceral aural and olfactory sensory overload)......the waters get cloudy when $$ approach $200k....430scud,458,mp4, lambo.....

I've been close twice getting into a scud but it may be a bit too unrefined for the wife. I guess i want a bit of both worlds.

Driven a Mclaren MP4 2 years ago, amazing car! good power indeed for a production car. That's a better choice for me than the GT3 It has better power than a GT2 and more stable at the track.

The 997 GT2 is a remarkable car. Perhaps the best built by Porsche between the CGT and 918 (2RS on par though stiffer street ride). Given your stated usage I wouldn't even consider trading it for another GT variant.

i also forgot to mention im supposedly high on thelist for the nsx( super delayed in production and definitely not analog with all the hybrid technology), Seaniant testing in camouflage and I've been riding the engineers and project managers now from us for years, there's definitely a strong affinity for the Honda brand here in central Ohio with the plants close by

Try driving the 430 scud… very similar to the 911RS but more raw! It might change your mind again

You will get arguments for both sides, so just do what your gut told you the moment you were thinking about it.

Both great cars (obviously) but I think you'd deeply regret letting the 7GT2 go.
