It will be the 960. Rumour now is that Porsche AG will not be fielding a factory GT team in 2016. suspect they will be testing their new GT car. Ferrari and Ford will be running new cars in 2016 that meet the new tech technical regulations. The new 960 will reflect those rgs too.

Maybe that's the 918 version I want. The one with 600 lbs of electrical crap in the junkyard and a 600 hp naturally aspirated motor. All for half the price of a regular 918.
Whatever it is, it ain't a 911.

With the performance anty upped significantly in GTE/LM for next year, it's going to be interesting, and perhaps why they won't race the RSR....very interesting.
I'm guessing the 960 is a turdbro-V8 ?

If you look at Ferrari and McLaren competition, they both released full track versions of their cars,, Ferrari FXxk and p1 GTR... The odd man out at the moment is Porsche, so my guess is a track version of the 918

That's nice. There are TWO of these in Saskatchewan, Canada!
https://twitter.com/PorscheSK
And they somehow managed to get the Gulf logo embossed on the headrests of the Saskatchewan cars!!
Crazy Canucks and their PTS!!
... BTW, if you haven't heard of Saskatchewan, it's north of the northernmost point of somewhere in remote North Dakota (and Montana)

MVEZ. I agree with you. Think it will be a turbo V8! Hybrid is not allowed currently in the FIA/ACO GT regs. So think we will see a lot of carry over with the 918 in terms of chassis and suspension with a turbo - since the new 2016 regs are more favorable for turbos. Overall speed will increase for the GT class in 2016 too

Regarding the chassis, the rumored 960 won't have CF subframes like the 918 as the GTE/LM regulation prohibits having CF sub-structures, so I suspect only the modified 918 tub will be carried over. However, the 918 tub won't be cost effective and time efficient for a mass produced car.
Really hope Porsche can make a mid-engined super car that competes not against the 488/baby lamb, but the F12 and Aventador, since the 400K+ market is almost exclusive to these two brand, we need more options other than a sporty GT and a wall-poster.

I'm guessing either a 918-RS (FXX-K/P1 GTR fighter) or turbo 6/turbo 8 918 (non-hybrid) '960' concept car... Theoretically they could have been testing that without much notice as it could look very much like a 918...
