Center lock marked.
I had to have front tires changed and got the car back and center locks have worn spots on every face where tool engages. Mostly in the off direction.
Wonder if this should be squawked? I hate to be a pain in the *** but hate to see the anodizing worn away and seeing a little bit of bare metal on every face.
Is this possibly caused by a faulty or worn tool?

If you do not engage the tool properly because you're rushing or if you're using an impact, they will get like that. The vibration and torque of an impact, especially a powerful air impact can mess them up.

Sorry to hear, Sloopy. I've had my wheels off and on several times using the Porsche socket and a breaker bar and torque wrench and have no marks. I agree with Nick that's it's likely an impact tool or engaging the socket improperly that has caused the damage. Personally, I think it's worth mentioning to whoever did the work.

I have the marks on all 4 of mine, a garage at a track here in S. Cal. used an impact wrench to remove them, kind of ticked me off. I insisted they use my torque wrench to put them back on (they removed them while I was eating lunch, to rebalance them). You can cover it up with a Sharpie.
