Default some 991.2 tidbits

The Porsche dealers in Europe have this week placed their first orders for showroom cars for the launch of the 991.2. Publicity/photos will be released on Sept 1st. Early cars will start hitting customers in Dec. The dealers test drivers have already been given access to the cars and report that the S is significantly quicker and close to the GT3 in performance. Certainly faster in everyday driving due to the torque. Not so much at the top end.

Some other stuff I learned, most of which we already know:
- S engine is a fraction under 3.0 litre because of the China market and puts out 430hp
- change to the doors. There is no handle insert, just a smooth one piece panel
- clear headlight covers are flatter than current ones
- tail light graphics changed with a slightly different shape
- 3 different steering wheels including a smaller diameter wheel the same as the one in the new RS
- sport plus/pasm buttons move top steering wheel
- new PCM unit is standard feature and supports Apple Play and local WIFI
- engine cover is black like current GTS

Just a fraction below 3.0 litres because in China tax rates go up 20+% for cars with engine capacities 3.0 litres or greater.

No, let me try and be clearer.

At the moment there is a cut out in the door panel where a whole door handle assembly is inserted so there is a distinct rim around the door handle. This goes. The actual handle you grab will be the same its just that the small insert panel behind the handle goes and it just be a smooth part of actual door.

Here are two photos that show the difference. I am surprised that Porsche would go to the trouble of doing what appears to be a completely new door pressing so it must be significantly cheaper to manufacture for them to do this….or maybe there is some other explanation??

Very minor and normal. Steering wheel will mirror the 918, and who knows when the next GT3 will hit the boad so moot point for me. Will be holding on to 991.1 for a long time .......will give it to my19 year old n ten years.

Yep GT cars will be keepers. I'll pass on the turbo's with the expectations on losing HP which is close to unusable these days. Weight is the answer vs. more power and torque .......back to the HP wars late 60's and 70's. Oops I wasn't around in the 60's but read about it(:

Only time will tell if the GT3 becomes a collector like the RS, will be interesting to see.

I'm gonna bet the base Carrera is gonna get 380-385hp to match the GT4's power output in order to place it properly on the price hierarchy once again.
