Nope. The only holding period is if the 918 depositor is ALSO a dealer or dealer personnel -- then hold for six months. No holding period for "ordinary" 918 retail customers.

An imaginative dealer might have pointed out to some otherwise non-enthusiastic prospects that they could pad down the initial expense of a 918 by flipping their allocations for extra bucks. I wouldn't necessarily call these customers shills, but they might have been encouraged more than a little bit.

Yup, I know this true as I'm buying my GT4 from an 918 owner and have been communicating with his sales manager periodically to check on the status of the car.

This thread poses an interesting question - would you sell for $100k over today? I don't think I would, it doesn't get me into what I consider an alternative car (458S or 675LT).

Well, it's NYC after all. Perhaps if one already has a 918 occupying THE extra garage slot in the high-rise, one doesn't really need a GT3 RS?

This whole RS thing is very distasteful for a life long Porsche driver and supporter - there is a dealer in CT who is playing the same games as above and it's depressing when there really are no alternatives out there to this car - don't know what to do but hope Porsche does something

You don't think Porsche could give a s$&t about one of their cars selling for $100k over. That just makes their branding even better than it is. They would love to see that frenzy for their cars. Pisses us all off but for Porsche, makes them more valuable. They may "claim" they don't support that practice but I bet they don't do a thing about it.

The only thing I don't like is that I didn't buy a couple or 3 dozen 918's.
When I thought it was a POS that they would never turn into anything fun to drive.

Are you kidding me!!!! PAG absolutely loves this. I can just see all the bean counters thinking, this is just what we expected. PAG will do nothing about this. Enjoy the good times with the bad times. After all, if people would just stop paying these inflated prices, we wouldn't be talking about it. Doesn't bother me one bit.
