Default OT: 458 Speciale vs. Italia

Besides the obvious HP difference and stripped down, lightened Speciale, how does the Italia compare as a predominantly street use car with occasional track days ? TIA....
I'm looking at a '14 Italia in Nero...900+ miles. How's the listed price ?
What is a reasonable offer trading my GT3 in with under 1000 miles ?

You can buy a spider for almost that nowadays.
Right seats and wheels though.
I'd pay 240-250K.

it's like af-1 vs af-2.
most people would be happy and delighted with the af-2, but would you?
if i know the af-1 exists, then i wouldn't be happy with the af-2, even though it exceeds my needs by a fair margin.

There you go again...talking hi end audio... I have the AF1 phono stage warming up as we speak....Allnic H5000 DHT.

I will talk with my dealer tomorrow to get a better feel if I'm just wasting my time waiting for an RS that may never happen...and if it did, it's a car that I wouldn't be able to drive till next spring. If I can cut a deal and trade my GT3 with 700 miles $155k Msrp and pick up the Italia for $100k extra, I could be driving it in a week or two....need to drink more and listen to good music...

I tried that...I'm still hanging on by a thread. I don't think you'll ever hear "it's a pipe dream...where shall we mail you your deposit."

My speakers are currently at THE Show so I'm left with just alcohol and the internet .

Good luck with whatever you decide on. I've always wanted a Ferrari.

I had a 2011 Italia...kept it for over a year.

If I were you - I would spend some time in one before buying it. At first it's fun, cool looking, etc...but after a while it wears off, and you want something different.

It attracts tons of attention, is a little too video game like to drive, and definitely not a good daily driver. The car hates to go slow, and is pretty miserable to drive and obey the laws.

All that being said...if you have to own one - I would buy an older model that has depreciated substantially- - and try not to lose a lot in the year or so you keep yours.

Rockitman, I did a track day with Ferrari in west palm. Couldn't fit in any of the seats with helmet on. Just a heads up! Lol.

The car is beautiful, and your around 50k more than the RS ..........I love the 458. I assume it's just a weekend toy, and if that's the case do it. Bird in the hand is better than a bird in the bush can't go wrong with either choice. Good luck.

2012+ cars had some improvements in suspension and transmission software. Ferrari also added the 7 year free maintenance plan in 2012. Other than that, there's not much difference between the years. Some of the must have options (IMO) are the led steering wheel, fender shields, forged wheels, and upgraded seats.

You should get pretty close to MSRP on your GT3 - my dealer is giving me $8k under a $165k build and I can trade it anytime in the next few months at that number. I have some pretty valueless options like alcantara seat belt outlets etc.

I wouldn't pay more than $235-$238 for that car (which means most will pay $244-$246) Yes it low miles and '14, but 458's continue to drop in price.

Don't know about this dealer, but dealers like Boardwalk (good dealer) 85% of their cars are consignment cars, which they are making 6%+ plus on, so need to factor that into negations.

BTW, love the black 458--good choice.
