OT: 458 Speciale vs. Italia

I have owned my '11 458 for 3 years. A great car. I would rather have it than any 911. You can buy a great color less than 5k miles 2011 for 200k. YMMV

Gorgeous. Compared to 458 interiors, the Porsche interiors are quite pedestrian. I foresee a more emotional/visceral driving experience over a 911.

Imo its not worth the trade at this point, 458 prices will continue to go down even more. However if you cant get this out of your head then i strongly suggest finding one with race seats as the standard seats sit to high.

A lot of the same arguments on future 458 depreciation due to the 488 arrival apply to the GT3 due to the RS arrival. The 458 is much deeper into the switching out when we're just seeing it starting in the GT3. There are 169 458s already listed on dupont at the moment, I suspect prices are very negotiable.
Selling the GT3 at peak value and buying a 458 at a lower end of the curve doesn't seem like a horrible trade to me. Regardless, buy whichever one puts a bigger smile on your face

Besides the obvious HP difference and stripped down, lightened Speciale, how does the Italia compare as a predominantly street use car with occasional track days ? TIA....
I'm looking at a '14 Italia in Nero...900+ miles. How's the listed price ?
What is a reasonable offer trading my GT3 in with under 1000 miles ?

btw, if you pay close attention to 2014 Speciale cars you can find one that comes with radio delete, navigation delete, bluetooth delete, satellite delete all as one big delete bundle. for 2015 Speciale you don't have ability to delete all that junk...

The engine, transmission (through gear ratios are different) and chassis are the same as the 458 Challenge car. I've talked to a number of people tracking both and they don't seem to have any issues beyond typical.

It can handle track abuse, but I'm not sure to the same degree the GT3 can. Brakes are ceramic so will be expensive to replace. The problem I found with my 458 on track was that it had immense body roll. I will also mention that I was in the passenger seat of a 458 that caught fire on the track! Scary.

Pm me if you are interested in the car. I know the original owner, can put you in touch. Super clean car and hardly driven. Nicely spec'ed with race seats and carbon package. Trading in for Speciale
