Are you suggesting to hook up the charger each time you drive it or if you plan to park it for more than a week?

I have a GT3 and a Cayman S and they both have a charger on them all the time. These chargers are not supposed to over charge or hurt the battery in any way. One charger is a new Porsche charger that the dealer gave me. The other is a CTEK 3300 that i purchased on Amazon. Both are charging with the cigarette lighter plug.

I agree. There's no downside to keeping the battery on a modern charger like the CTEK all the time, other than the minor hassle of hooking it up. It may not be "necessary" but in the long run the battery will last longer. If I know I will be driving the car in the next day or two I'll sometimes get lazy and not hook it up, but otherwise it's plugged in.

Mike, I have the CTEK 7200. I use my car mostly on weekends. What mode on the charger should I use?

If I'm not driving it, it's plugged in. So easy to do, why not. My car sits for a day or a week, still plugged in. Winter storage, for sure.

bronson, is that a typo? Do you mean CTEK 7002?

Anyway, CTEK chargers have a "snowflake mode" with a symbol the looks like this - *. It's a slightly higher voltage setting for use in cold weather and it's also the mode that is recommended for the AGM battery in the GT3 under all conditions.

If your w/e drives are long you may not need a maintainer. If they are short however I would go for one. In any case, for peace of mind and maybe longer battery life, I would get one. I have CTEK 3300.

My experience is that car batteries in general are crap. Battery technology is just starting to advance from decades of junk being manufactured. If you want to get the max life out of any car battery put maintainer on car ALL the time when parked in your garage. Even if you use car every 3-4 weeks and car starts doesn't mean that the battery isn't dying a slow, quiet death over that course of time and it might take a couple years to show itself but rest assured you can prolong its time with a maintainer.

Yes Mike typo, CTEK 7002. So in other words, only use the snowflake mode in all season's, regardless what the temps are? Thank you.

I am using "snowflake mode" on the GT3, it is recommended for AGM batteries.
Always plugged... it's a habit now.

This is my policy also. Just because a car will start after 3-4 weeks of sitting doesn't mean that the battery is not dying an accelerated death from sulfating.

bronson, as noted by others, snowflake mode all the time for an AGM battery.

+1 for CTEK

Can't go wrong with them. And they're the OEM supplier for the Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc., battery maintainers.

I'm a huge fan of the CTEK 7002.

What is the difference between CTEK 3300, 4.3 and 7002 ?
