Default Paint Fix For Splitter Scrape?

Somehow a small gouge got taken out of my front splitter, exposing some whitish material underneath. Any idea what a good touch up match would be? (Tempted to leave it as is--as a battle wound!)

I don't know how to help but if you post a pic someone may have ideas. What color is your car?

No pic handy, but I believe the color of the splitter on all GT3s is the same. It's kind of a flat dark gray/black .

I believe he meant actual color of car, not color of splitter. As far as I know the splitter is molded in black all the way through....if you see white behind gouge it could have gone through to body color on car bumper cover (assuming your car is white). Again pics are needed to see what "white" you see in gouge?

Yup, that's it. If you scrape it though, you will see lighter color underneath the black. Not talking about paint.

Do you have a recommendation on a particular plastic restorer?

I understand. Usually the color you are seeing after the scrape is just materials rubbing off from the scrape. This rubber strip is not painted. I ended up replacing mine after 1 year after it got lots of damage. Sunset Porsche is selling this piece for under $150, so it is a throw away piece.
Said that, after each scrape and to mask some of the damage I usually rub that damaged area with a towel soaked withl tire armor or something similar that is used to shine & protect your tire. You may also sand it a little if the area is too rough, then use a rubber cleaner & protecant after until the rubber original color is restored. This will buy you some time so you don't have to change this piece regularly. I always have a spare piece in my garage, just in case I can't live with damage. It is an inexpensive part and you can change it in few minutes so don't sweat it too much. Good luck. Mark

I'd try Car Pro Perl Plastic and Rubber Protectant. Autogeek.com Stuff is amazingly effective at making the splitter, skirts, tires, etc. look great. It's a concentrate so cut it with 50% water otherwise things look a little greasy.

You know thee are expendable .So expect to get more chips.
in the past on my 997Gt3 I would clean up the bottom scrapes with a Dremel tool
And they lasted much longer

Let it get a few more dings and replace it. Very cheap and about 30 minutes to replace. Might try a sharpie if its just a small mark.

If the white bothers you, try some Black Again - a plastic restorer or pick up some shoe polish.

I already laid in a spare splitter during the group buy, as others have said - they are a wear item.
