Do they have a pic up? Then we can compare the design.

I have it.

Made by M&M Exhaust GmbH, sold in the U.S. via FVD.

I had their sport exhaust put on my 997.2 Turbo. Quality was sensational and it lived up to all and more than advertised.

FVD uses 316 which is better for corrosion resistance.

I'll have a full FVD cat-back in the next few weeks. It will include new side mufflers, valve delete, and center section. My requests are as drone free as possible and lack of rasp. We'll see very soon.

I am surprised there aren't about a bazillion makers of this kind of product. At $1500-2100 or more for some tig welded pipes the margin has to be huge.

To get in you would need:
1. A CNC mandrel bender
2. A tubing expander, segmented or bull nose
3. A laser or die to make the plate
4. TIG welding equipment
5. Tube cutting equipment for the angle cuts
6. A jig to hold the parts for assembly
7. Notching equipment
8. The time it took to develop the part

Then there is the waste on start-up each time a run is initiated. It's highly unlikely that a bender will produce the exact same part to fit the jig without some tweaking from run to run. Unless you are buying large lot quantities of tubing from your supplier you will be forced to deal with variances in the incoming tubing mechanical properties which is going to change your setup and produce more scrap. And some days your welder just has a bad day.

Agreed, but any exhaust mfg already has all of the tools and personnel for this, so it boils down to recovery of development time. I stand by my belief that the margin on this is huge, but given the low volume the actual profitability may not be that great. The complete headers for my Viper, which have 10 flanges, 2 5-1 collectors, and special slip fit components for installation were under $2K. I've seen the photos of the GMG part and it does not look complex to build. Maybe there is some complex design aspect in selecting tubing diameters, but it honestly appears that the design is constrained more by space than complex gas flow calculations. But hey, I am a grassroots DIY racer geek whose primary track car is a POS turbo Miaturd and $2K is enough for about 2 sets of wheels and tires.

Money - I believe you have a rear bypass?? I thought you were going to replace the OEM side mufflers with the FVD and see how it sounds??

Jimmy,

Any reason why you chose the SW over the FVD for your GT3?

Just curious, thanks.

FVD was not yet available and I am impatient. I really do not think you can go wrong with SW, FVD, GMG.

I really do love the SW 100mm tailpipes. They certainly are far more pronounced than the OEM. I am also convinced that the larger tailpipes do notch up the volume slightly more - it could be in my head though

Isn't that what really matters?

As long as you believe it sounds better, who cares if it actually does sound better.

Just ask Messrs. Harvey Fletcher and W.A. Munson, they'll tell you.

Matt,

Just wanted to let you know that M&M has shipped your mufflers and center bypass today. FVD Germany will receive them on Friday the 10th and will ship them out via airfreight to us.

We should have them no later than Tuesday the 14th so you should see them on Wednesday the 15th.

I will be checking on them personally and getting accurate weights for you. I will email you the pictures of the mufflers on the scales, etc.

Thanks,
Rhonda
