Regarding cracking... the 997 cup muffler is identical to the STEEL 997 street muffler except for no cutouts on side for top holes and tips are welded to the muffler. There are template marks on the cup muffler for the machining for the street parts. The 997.2 RS center muffler cracks easy (titanium). The steel 997 muffler is very durable. It can eventually crack after lots of heavy track use, but there is a super easy fix, just weld a plate on the bottom. Mine has 35+ days on it w/o cracking yet.
For track use the side delete with stock center is best. Lots of weight and lots of heat taken off the rear end. For street I'd probably just do a shark pipe so you can use the quiet mode.

There goes the no mod theory. BTW, you know what this sounds like, like mine with a 9k redline and sweet pops and crackles on shift. I'm sure BBI will have a 991 at the FOS to checkout. Side mufflers and rear muffler on 991 are same design as 997. Bypass pipes are identical. As indicated, expect some level of drone at lower RPM.

For those of you with side muffler bypasses like this BBI, do you notice drone at low RPM's?
I ask because it's a DD for me and if I'm not at the track or driving manual and I feel like automatic mode due to traffic or the missus, will there be annoying drone at 2000-3000rpm?
Thanks!

Anyone consider KA side muffler delete?

Looks like the same concept as BBI, but at a lower price.

I have SW now and from what I've read on ALL the exhaust threads I think I would be happy with the switch to BBI but I haven't been able to hear one in person yet. (anyone in central Florida with BBI?)
I'd appreciate your feedback before I make the purchase....Thanks
