Black is not a PTS color. No one has submitted it for feasibility review because it is normally a Standard color.
I wonder how Porsche would handle such a request.

My '11 GT3RS was PTS gloss black. Pictures of the early cars were black.

Series production of the Carrera GT didn't start until 2004, but by that date 'GT Silver' was closely associated with the signature look of that particular Porsche super model.
Then, to cement it's royal status among Porsche 'silver' colors, Porsche announced in August of 2003 that it would produce a special 40th Anniversary 911 model in recognition of the debut of the first Porsche 911 at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show. The press released contained the following wording: "The 40th Anniversary 911's distinguishing styling features include GT silver metallic exterior paint color (exclusive to this model and the Carrera GT), front cooling air openings adopted from the 911 Turbo, body color air intake grills, left and right sill trims, an aluminum "911" logo on the engine cover, shot-blasted, polished 18-inch Carrera wheels, and high-gloss polished exhaust tailpipes". From that moment on, 'GT Silver' became as associated with the 911 as much as with its supermodel relative - the Carrera GT!

'GT Silver' later became a 'special color' option in the 997 and that status continues in the current 991/981 models. As a 'Special Color', it commands a huge premium at its $3K+ cost!
Because the popularity of 'Silver' as a choice for customers of modern Porches, PAG has for decades always offered a metallic silver at their minimum cost for a metallic (which is approx. $700+). In recent years, these 'silvers' have included 'Polar', 'Arctic', 'Platinum' and now 'Rhodium'. In previous years, their names were 'Silver', 'Zermatt Silver', 'Diamond Silver' et al. But none of those has ever achieved the cache of 'GT Silver' since that hue was introduced in early 2000 for the 'GT Carrera' and then anointed as the 40th 911 Anniversary Edition color!
The previous king of Porsche silvers was the color Porsche used on the 1976 911 Turbo. That was a beautiful tone of 'Silver' that set the benchmark of Porsche silvery hues for many years!

But in recent times, 'GT Silver' rules the roost!

^Eduardo, ever consider doing a collection of stories on Porsche colours of particular historical and aesthetic importance? This short piece on GT Silver is superb, and I'm sure you must have lots more to share on many other very special colours. Thanks for the post!
