I never understood why you would need to hide your license plate number. Anyone can see it when your car is parked or driving. What could a person do with a license plate number? I'm sure there is a reasonable answer, I just don't know it.

Most people here are probably diligent enough day-to-day that their license plate numbers can't be used against them. The fact remains, however, that there is no drawback to blurring/covering the number and no reason not to do it, unless you just have to take your pics directly from your phone to the internet.

What people don't see when your car is parked or driving is your post history on a public discussion forum. If someone was attempting to use social engineering on you, your license plate number (plus all the other personal information people share here, like location, house pictures, favorite roads, etc.) is just another piece they have to use against you.
