I don't understand why they came out with the tips.

The stock tips on the 991 GTS are 90mm, bigger than previous GT3s. To me it seems like a waste and with the possibility of damage, not worth it.

I do have the SW bypass and don't have any issues.

Why don't you explain your pictures instead of leaving it cryptic for the reader to figure it out? I know what you're getting at, but it would be nice if you said it.

I personally went with the GMG exhaust. I, however, had a SW with bigger tips and that did not happen.

Sorry. Thought it was obvious from the photos.

This is the stock center exhaust with rs tips. This overheated during a day auto crossing the car.

I'll be going back to the stock tips and ordering some replacement parts.

Nope standard red ones... Girlfriend thinks the clear make the car look like a 90s era eclipse.

I have the SW Bypass and the 100 mm tips. I am a little concerned because the heat plate does get quite hot but even the mechanics at the Dealership did not seem to worry. But I also do not race or track it but a concern- obviously

I am sure SW will comment

The solution is obvious. Slow down. You (and your G/F) have been driving that car MUCH too fast. An extra couple of seconds on your AX times should do the trick nicely!

Hi Kraig,
Call us when you can (510-651-0300) - we can investigate to see what happened and help you fix this.

We've sold a lot of these over the years and the only problem we've seen is when there mounted too close to the bumper. The bypass and tips' vertical position are adjustable.

Dan, how much space do you recommend for the 90mm tips?

A couple of fingers worth is good. I've only seen it before on the 997 side when a couple of folks stuck them right under the plastic cover. Looks like this is what prolly happened;( We'll try to make this clearer on the web site for sure.

I kind of like the stock ones too no doubt. Some folks asked us to make them since they like the more "racey" slash cut race pipe look they had on their 997s... Glad you like the exhaust.
