1,000 miles and got "add oil" message
so i kept revs under 6k for the first 300 miles, then gradually went up in revs to around 6-8k around 600 mile mark. 600 to 1,000 miles brought revs up to 8k only hitting 9k a few times (hard to do on public roads).
Just got the "reached the minimum oil level- add oil" message. I was a bit surprised but figure I'd take it in to get an oil change anyway. Anyone else experience high oil usage during break in?

Plus, it is so easy to overfill, which is not good. I have learned they like to fill it to the first green line rather than overfill it so you may have not started with the oil topped to limit

about 1100 miles here...kept it under 7k and the oil overfill yellow warning light is still on... little to no consumption as far as I can tell. Shouldn't you be checking the oil level with every fill up?

Some engines use oil, others don't, and how you break-in doesn't always seem to have a lot to do with it. I was a little more conservative than you, but also used a gradual, stepped approach and by about 1200 miles I was driving with no restrictions on the street, although I waited until 2K miles for my first autocross. I also did an oil change at around 2K but other than that have added no oil at all.
As has been mentioned, the gauge is very sensitive to oil level; only .5L between the full and low mark. Also, did you check your gauge when you first got the car? Maybe it was below full to begin with. The point is, you wouldn't have to use much oil, maybe even less than .5L, to get the low oil level light to come on. .5L usage in the first 1K miles is nothing to be concerned about.

Dropped 1 segment in the first 1000 miles keeping it below 5000. Currently stuck at 1500 miles keeping it below 5000 and no loss of oil showing. If it ever warms up and the snow/salt disappear I might get to 2000 miles.

It seems like the 991 engines use more oil than the previous engines. I have added just over 2 quarts of oil on my Turbo S but it has 8000 miles. I find that the oil consumption is higher after full throttle driving events such as the track. My previous 997.2 GT3 RS never needed oil after track or ever...until the engine blew and got a brand new replacement engine from Porsche. The new owner states that it consumes oil during track events.

I broke my car in on the track. I have added oil three times for a total 600 ml so far. Just have 4000 kms on car.
Yes don't overfill. Every time you get the message just add 200 ml and you are good.
