May have to sell new white car- 28 miles- 151.5 msrp What should be fair value
considering moving to Georgia from Florida and they have ad advalorem tax of 7% on any car brought into state-irregardless that I already paid 6% to Florida. Tax would cost me $25k on my cars-- based on mv of cars.
If you lease a car there you pay 7% on car plus sales tax on payments.

Note to self--never move to GA. That sounds like CA kind of silliness. Good news is ex-wife just moved there from Texas--thank god.
Can you just keep it with FL tags until they expire and re-evlaute then?
To answer your question--MSRP to leave a little negotiation.
I just talked to a friend last night who was just offered a '14 for MSRP.
I'll send him your info...

as others said keep Florida tags , I lived in Georgia for 2 years in the late 80's and kept our Maryland Tags and no problems. Also, we kept out Maryland DL and no issues . In my area, people are registering cars in Montana to avoid paying sales tax on them and I am not aware of anyone having problems.

The car tax situation here is much better than it used to be. We now pay 6.5% when we buy and get credit for trade in value. We used to have to pay ad valorem on our birthday every year. However I wasn't aware that the tax reform created the move in penalty which is a real racket. Terrible. Makes no sense. Welcome to Georgia.

Can you imagine buying a house and not being aware of that law. Here's the keys to your house and oh by the way you owe the governor an additional $25000.

TAX is avoided when you buy a new car you have no car tax ever for all models after 2012 I believe. I just pay a 25.00 tag fee each year. I purcased my 2013 M5 in MI, and I pay 1000.00 a year car tax. I didn't pay upfront because the car will be gone next year.

In Georgia you pay 6.5 percent advalorem when you but a car from a dealer or individual. You get credit for your trade in. After that you just pay a tag fee of $20. My tags used to be 5K per year. It's not a bad deal if you buy mostly new cars.
I have looked into the Montana deal. Insurance is a problem, the police if you get stopped are a problem. Not worth the hassle for cars IMO.

When I looked on the GA website it looked like the ad valorem tax on a 2014 GT3 would be around 1,400. This tax is not like a sales tax and it looked like it used an assessed value from the state.
I find it hard to believe they would charge you the sales tax again given you already paid it in FL. As valorem tax is akin to a property tax, not a sales tax. For 1,400 I would be keeping the car.
