Another Sapphire Blue delivered and question about possibly swapping OUT the buckets.
So, flew out from Chicago to Detroit to pick-up my Sapphire Blue from Porsche of the Motor City.
Options:
full leather
sport buckets
LEDs
front lift
online services
Sat radio
and the free stuff (larger tank, smoker's package, etc...)
Anyway, GREAT service from Jarett Hoffman in sales. I'd highly recommend him!
Also, if you get full leather without sport chrono as I did AND NO extended leather dash, you do get the nicely shaped cover (trapezoidal) over the center speaker for the sound package plus (not that goofy looking round one).
Put some winter rubber on prior to delivery - Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 in Turbo S sizes - the tires are great.
Pulled over on the way home by the nicest Michigan State Trooper ever:
Could be a record for me - new car to first traffic stop - less than 3 hours
Oh, the officer was a big car guy and let me go with a verbal warning (93 in a 70) - and wanted to know everything about the car - very cool.
The car was great on the drive home and the performance is spectacular as we all already know.
So, we all know what the car looks like now so only two obligatory crappy camera phone pics before my question:
OK, so the sport bucket seats are absolutely AWESOME looking seats.
Not sure if they are staying long term because my wife does not like them.
Also, I plan to run a different seat for the track (halo seat with HANS) so I'm considering swapping them out for a set of the sofa seats.
Anybody in the Chicago area or midwest interested in some sport buckets with 300 miles on them?
I'm weighing options between doing a swap plus cash vs just buying an extra set of sofa seats and keeping the buckets.
Does anybody know if the sofa seats would be plug and play from a wiring perspective?
What happens if I get heated sofa seats?
Is the wiring for the heat button is under the console where the blank button is?
The car is simply incredible!!!

A local shop tried to source the buckets for customer and they were $$$ - a lot more than sofa seats I'm guessing.
I'm weighing options at this point.

I'd keep the seats. Maybe get some more comfy aftermarket ones?
The car may be harder to sell without all the original equipment. Also, the parts guy here looked at ordering 918 seats and said they were about $16k EACH. I haven't seen them listed anywhere, so I cannot confirm or deny. The 4-way sport seats are certainly much less than that.
The other option is to buy the wife something else.

I would keep the LWBs to avoid being disappointed...
You're also making a trade off on going with a Halo seat vs a side air bag in the car. I assume you won't have window nets (nor a full cage), so the air bag acts for both driver containment and debris protection in a side impact. I don't know if you're better off with a Halo seat, given you're already using a Hans device or not.

keep the seats, which in turn will keep your wife out of the GT3.
i see zero issues here, actually sounds like a perfect situation.
anyone about to grab their pitchforks, relax its a joke

FYI - I was told by PNA that if you have a car that they were not offered you could not put then in one of those cars. Mine is a 2015 got it in November and I could not get them on my build. So they said they would not work in my car??
Has anyone else heard this? That is why I'm putting my GT2 seats in they said they would work.

Nice trooper for sure--93 and he let you go...damn lucky.
Car looks awesome and more pics when you have a chance.
Personally I'd keep the seats you have. Unless it's something the wife will be in all of the time, I'd just tell her it can't be done...but you'll look into more comfortable ones in your RS...LOL!
