Default Mileage on CUP 2's

How many miles are you getting out of CUP 2's under normal conditions?

Almost 4K miles, 3 autocrosses, some very spirited "canyon runs", and I'd estimate 70-80% tread left. The Cup 2's are wearing better than I expected.

What's "normal" in the context of a GT3 to you? You might be using this car in the freeway mostly. Another person might only do mountain drives and track days.

That is pretty darn good Mike. My service advisor said expect 3500 miles. He is way off

Normal means you don't take it to track and come out after few laps and there is no thread left or you don't go spin the wheels in a parking lot like teenagers do.

7,500 Miles including a dozen Track Events. About 1/2 Worn. Amazingly, still good enough to run with most of the fast guys at HPDEs. Wearing FAR better than the original MPSCs and FAR better than I had expected. Michelin cautions against bleeding down air pressure (for Track use) when they are cold so I usually run the first track session laps 5-7 PSI higher than optimum pressures, then pit and bleed down to working pressures. I believe that prevents them from chunking. LOVE these tires!

Fastlane, that's pretty darn good. Thx for the info. These tires are slick.

For me, they seem to work best for autocross with hot pressures in a range of 29-31F and 32-34R. Below that, I get some scrubbing over the shoulders, and above that they start to lose some grip.

Kamal, unless you're into drifting or doing donuts, you'll see a LOT better than 3500 miles.

Mike, are you going by the TPMS, or a separate gauge?

Vivian.

Another thing to keep in mind is that these type of R comp tires tend to heat cycle out sometimes before the treadwear is gone if you subject them to a lot of highway driving and relatively little hard driving. So while they are still safe to use they aren't going to give you nearly the amount of grip that they would give when they are new, even if a lot of tread remains.
