This is pretty different from my experience. I've got a C4S and one of the first things I noticed when sitting in a GT3 was the shorter paddle travel.
Maybe there's something not right w/ my paddles. Pull is long and feel is clunky. Shifts are very quick, but the feel of the paddles is not what I had expected.

My paddles have a very definitive and solid click to them. They certainly feel a lot better and a shorter pull to engagement than the standard paddles. Embarrassingly I still haven't even tried the stick in 1700 miles!
I think I'm the only one that uses the stick the majority of the time! Feels more like I'm driving a race car. I know that most race cars have paddles these days but NO other road cars have a stick shift the correct way round. As others have said, I use auto when in heavy traffic or if on phone or if trying to be quiet in residential areas at night. But when driving for the sake of driving it's windows down, aircon off, PSE on and use the stick to play with the sound.

Actually, my old EVO X with dct had it the right way, and I'm pretty sure bmw does it right too. I'm still shocked that all the other Porsche models other than the gt3 are the wrong way.
It's not because of the airbag system that is different in the Macan. One guy in Planet-9 talked to his dealer about making the swap in his 981 CS and they said it couldn't be done
I would love to get that wheel on the GT3! I wonder if it's plug and play?
I like the style better but really not a fan of the spinning selector that clicks. It was a real pain on the other Porsche loaners I have had. Much prefer the stalk.
