Default 991 GT3 vs. 458

I have seen the video comparing the GT3 to the 458 Speciale and know it slightly edged out the GT3 but has anyone seen a comparison of the GT3 to just the straight 458?

No video, but if the 3 is close to the Speciale...the 3 will be on par or may edge the standard 458. There are some people here who have both. I do think the new RS will eat up the Speciale...just a hunch though. More suicides in Maranello to come...j/k

I owned a 458 Italia for 14 months. I sold it 3 months ago and just took delivery of my 2015 GT3! I don't have enough seat time to compare the two but dollar for dollar the GT3 is hard to beat. I will give full impressions once I get more familiar with the GT3.

I have good seat time in GT3 (have not taken delivery of mine yet) and own a 458. It very much depends on the type of track as to which one has the advantage but I can tell you they are very closely matched overall. 458 is a great car and in my opinion a big improvement from the 430.

Is the intangible "special" factor of ownership very different?

I own both. IMO they are not closely matched. 458 is an exotic feels looks and drives like one.

GT3 is a HP 911.

Huge difference in price.

Well, It depends on what you define as "special" . The 458 feels much more exotic car than GT3. I have driven a GT3 in traffic and it barely gets noticed, very opposite in almost any Ferrari? I can say on the track you would be surprised at how closely matched they are side by side.

991 GT3 will out run a 458 (not speciale) on track.

Yes, but not at all tracks, longer the straights the better the 458 fairs.....aerodynamics and power finally catch up.
