IMHO nothing beats the sense of occasion of a ferrari. porsche does not get close in that metric.
this takes nothing away from the GT3, which is a phenomenal car.

I had no idea about the free service. Is that transferable?

Yes it is transferrable. It applies to all 2012 and newer Ferraris.

Both great cars. I would take Speciale over GT3 if choosing with my heart, but 1) both are not fully experienced on the street (even Fiat 500 Abarth is not fully experienced on the street, unless you have a deathwish); 2) Speciale is too expensive/special to be completely fine with the possibility of putting it into a wall at a track. So basically if I owned one, I'd almost never truly experience it. GT3 is the most expensive car I can drive without pussyfooting, and I think that's necessary to truly enjoy a car. So no Speciale for me...

But usually last generations of a particular era are usually more desirable, and if it's the last naturally aspirated non-hybrid Ferrari, it's going to hold value very well. Maybe I should put a deposit on a 991.2 RS, if that ever happens...

Both are great cars. my original comment was more that the comparo is not right.. the GT3 is 1/2 the up-front cost, 90% of the performance and more livable on a daily basis. Clearly the F-Car is faster and a beast and an amazing car. I just feel Chris is holding the Porsche to a higher standard/expectation as it already does so many things well.. it can't be expected to beat a more track focused car on the track. I think the new RS or would be a better comparison to the Speciale. I also feel more P-car owners track their cars or at least do some DEs and learn to push them and handle them vs. many F-car and Lambo guys simply garage queen and weekend drive and are more interested in the flash vs. the rewards.. clearly there are exceptions to the each.. so this is a very broad generalization.. and based on my experience in SoCal... maybe different in EU, etc.

And it includes Ferrari OEM carbon ceramic brakes.

its a pity all the best interweb car comparo guys are British based journalist it seems, where half the long awaited reviews are tests frequently done in wet cold conditions of cars with " summer only " tires...we all know about the recent review of the Speciale A done in heavy rain ...with the top retracted , where going 10/10ths meant taking hairpins at ...15 mph...but what could he do...he probably was given the car for his long prescheduled two hour slot, come rain or shine , before the mandated handover to the next scribe

The fact that there are very few 2012 or newer 15000 mile Ferrari's is understandable. If i had to pay double for the GT3 I doubt I'd be using it as a DD. The drive to the cliff is shorter in the Ferrari and the cliff is higher. But it would be one heck of a drive.

I currently have an 11 MY 458. The " free maintenance" was/is a sales gimmick to say the least. The msrp went up $4,500.00 between those two MY's. Yes, you may save a few grand throughout the 7 years, (but who keeps their car for 7 years).
The annual on my 458 usually runs about 1k. The real difference comes into play when buying used. Typically prices are 5-10k for a 12 over an 11. If you do the math, you're still ahead buying an 11 MY. Not to mention, (haven't confirmed this myself yet, but….) I've heard that if you lapse and go over a year without getting the annual done under the "Free maintenance" program, the remainder becomes null and void. Been meaning to ask my dealer about this, but keep forgetting since it doesn't really pertain to me specifically.

Frankly, the Harris comparo video was at best useless and at worse moronic. I just wasted 15mins watching a drifting competition between two cars with track tires and way too much power on a cold damp track, then jibber-jabber endlessly while sliding away during timed laps. He probably left 2sec+ on the track in each car because he wasn't concentrated during the hot laps and couldn't stop talking. A Miata on street tires would have probably been more fun and not much slower if only because it would have slid much less.

Yes, that video was a waste of time, and by your criteria, so is every Harris video. To me, it was massively entertaining and insightful. Im sure you won't make same mistake of wasting that time agaib

I think you meant a thousand a year. I also have an '11. The free maintainance was a gimmick but didn't really hurt anything.

Free maintenance is generally a marketing gimmick - be it Ferrari or any other marque.

No doubt Ferrari did this (like BMW) to make its returned, off-lease cars more marketable to the next buyer.

Yikes Yes, thanks for the correction. 1k a month would not be good!
