Why do (some) Porsche guys always say this? Acceleration out of corners is very important! Without the Z06's acceleration its lap times wouldnt be what they are!
BTW....I'm a P guy.

Speciale will be collectable just like the RS, even more so if they're the last naturally aspirated of their kind. With any luck a few might even get driven hard.....

I'm sure at some point GM will address the cooling issues if this is not a one off case. Listen I'm not a GM guy by any means and I have been critical of GM quality in the past especially with camaro and corvette but Porsche has not been anywhere near perfect when it comes to new product initial quality perfection.

I don't know about you, but I doubt my speed is under ~40 mph in any part of any corner at any track. Moreover, grip still limits how much power you can put down coming out of corners (911 is particularly good in that regard), it's down the straights where the additional torque and hp of the Z06 will make the biggest difference.

GM has serious overheating issues with the Z06, esp. in 8AT guise.

Randy Pobst who test drove the Z06 at Road Atlanta for Road and Track had his test mule overheat and clonk out after 4 laps. He was in an 8AT.
Maybe this is why GM is so bold in proclaiming a track warranty - they know it'll never see more than 4 laps on any given day!

You said "out of corners", which I take to mean still in the corner, not down the straights.

Kind of a dumb comparo IMO.. I can drive a GT3 as a daily driver.. then drive to track on weekend and beat the snot out of it and drive it home... all for 1/2 the price. That F-car is more focused on the track and/or poser cruising on weekends.

Ferrari is in a different league and for good reason. Local 458 guy had to replace his CF rear diffuser---$10K.

Some of the Ferrari stuff is urban legend.

My F360, F430, 599 and 458 have been no more trouble and have not been much more expensive to operate than any of my Porsches
Also I have not experienced any BS at the dealer.

I guess I am a car guy. A 911 was always my dream car but a 458 doesn't suck. I could get a Special easier than an RS. For the record I don't want either.

But that's just me.

They are awesome but not worth the bull**** from the dealers, maintenance , and flash.
Neither marque is cheap to maintain by any stretch...I have spent more on 2 of my Porsche cars in past 2 years than 3 Ferraris combined. It will go back and forth but I have first hand experience (as many do) that BOTH cost a lot to keep going.

I have only had one F car and it cost me a fortune. Bad luck? Perhaps. I have had many Porsches and very rarely have I ever felt the cost of maintenance or repair was out of the question. On my 360 a cable broke in the top. $8k to fix. I will say though that I have friends that echo carcommander. They tell me the 430 and 458 are very reliable and cost is fairly reasonable to maintain. I see a 458 in my future as I do love the car however it will be driven as an occasion vehicle whether it be at the track or a Sunday drive. My P cars I'll drive anytime and as often as possible.

Am I wrong?
Unfortunately, many of them are driven so sparingly that they never get to 15K miles under the ownership of the original purchaser. While there are plenty of exceptions, I believe it's generally true that P-car owners tend to accumulate much more mileage than their F-car counterparts.

you get 7 year free service on any ferrari, this includes oil, brake fluid and labour. if you drive 15K miles within 7 years the 15K service costs nothing.
and btw, the argument 'a porsche is better because it costs less' - as used often here - is absolute bs. by the same logic a fiat panda would be close to the best car.
IMHO nothing beats the sense of occasion of a ferrari. porsche does not get close in that metric.
this takes nothing away from the GT3, which is a phenomenal car.

the late model Ferrari models are worlds different than the 2000 and earlier models. I am blessed to own 2 of the big maintenance hogs....355, and 512tr, wouldn't trade them for the world though. The 458 is like a Honda Civic in comparison.
