GT3 RS allocations
I don't know if this warrant it's own thread, mod, if you see fit, please move this into the GT3 RS con thread.
I am on the wait list with deposit for the GT3 RS from two separate dealership.
When I did european delivery of my GT3 on the 2nd of Nov, I went on a factory tour with a dealership owner in FL. We spoke about the RS, and he told me that Porsche is only going to make a total 600 GT3 RS only (he said that the 600 will include the "Special" order from 918 owners). He conjecture that the RS will be extremely limited.
Yesterday, the dealership that I ordered my GT3 from called me and told me that my chances for getting a GT3 RS is very slim. My salesman reconfirmed that there will be a total of 600 GT3 RS worldwide. The US is getting a total of 200 cars (suggesting that some dealership may never get one?). My salesman said that for now, it appears that the 200 cars include 15 and 16 (but he is not sure). A month ago, my salesman was pretty confident that they could get me a RS in 2015!
Have no heard from the other dealership that I am on the wait list.
So at least for now, it appears that two independent dealership has confirmed that there is a total of 600 GT3 RS. What do you guys think? Should I take these words with a grant of salt?
On a side note, 918 are supposing all sold out!

If this is true the 918 owners will gobble them up, and that will leave scraps for everyone else! How do you say 50% mark up on the scraps.

We will see. Seems silly that with the apparent level of demand (basically 8 or 9 out of 10 GT3 owners have expressed an interest), that they would so severely restrict production. Come on, they built 918 $1MM cars and they are going to make 600 $185k cars?
I think if that number is correct it is an annual number so at a minimum they will make 2x that ('15 and '16). They won't be easy to get but I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will get my hands on one with time.

Seems weird to me too. I've heard the 600 number also, but 600 for US (not worldwide). They did limit the 997 4.0 to 600 worldwide and the GT2RS to 500 worldwide though...

I was told 600 worldwide as well, but 600 for the US seems more likely given that the 918 owners have first call.

I heard on Sat. but forgot to mention the number is going to be low. 600 is about right. I even heard that the GMs in most dealerships will be managing these cars rather than letting their sales folks run them because this is going to be a very exclusive car. Demand is already to the roof with people following where the 918s were sold in the States and calling those dealerships

I suspect most of you know this but the RS is going to be a very hard edged car. My "11 was. If you get an allocation for one, I would not trade my GT3 for it until I was sure. I made that mistake.

What if every single 918 buyer wants a GT3 RS?
If you're PAG are you potentially going to tell up to 318 of your very best customers that they can't have one after they recently spent 7 figures give or take with you?
I believe that dealers frequently make statements that are false, but the untruthfulness stems from simple ignorance.
Furthermore, I believe that some dealers knowingly mislead customers - that is, deliberate deception - to manipulate markets at times.
I think this is an example of the latter.

Hard for sure, noisy and on the edge. If that is what you want, the RS is the car. I find attributes like that get old on the street real fast and as a result, the car won't be driven much. I keep lamenting I gave up an RS allocation for a standard 3, but in the end, it was the right decision for me. I do not live on a track and want a more enjoyable road experience.
