Last day before freeze date... help!
Ok, so been reading a LOT on threads about front lift option.
I originally wanted to stay under $150k on the build, but that's not easy.
I am considering scrapping 4 not so important options to help make up and almost pay in full for the lift (which I guess will be useful and maybe even help with resale)?
4 options on the chopping block are:
Clear glass tail lights. $650 (since discovered they can be bought cheaper from Suncoast and have both red and clear sets).
Aluminum footrest and pedals. $625
Carbon fiber door sills. $750
Extended interior pkg, for panel in leather/alcantara. $690
Total $2,715
Or just do front lift @ $3490.
Thoughts?

Most will say to get the lift. However, I have yet to hear that the few who passed on the lift regret passing on it. I decided to pass due to its cost and my perception of its reliability based on posts in the 997 gt3 forum. I have read it's the same system as on the 997 version. I also specced my build to keep it under $150k.

Definitely don't need the extended leather. The regular leather upgrade is awesome. The leather wrapped steering column is nice to have too. I don't care for the clear tail lights either. As far as the lift goes you have to remember that you are only buying 1.18 " in lift. You will have to decide whether that is worth $3490 to you or not. I did not get it and have not had any scraping incidents yet but many people buy it and are glad they did, so your choice. If you are really trying to save money, their is nothing on your list that you could not easily live without and still have an awesome car. Also I doubt any of the options you have listed will add 1 penny to its resale value with the possible exception of the lift.

I didn't vote because there was not a 'skip these options, skip the lift, spend on strippers' selection. If I HAD to spend $3,500, given the aforementioned choices, I'd go with lift because it has at least some value over the other choices.

Whatever you do, drop the $690 extended leather package. It consists of three small leather pieces that are hidden with the door closed. Waste of money, IMHO.
The other stuff can be added later piece by piece at the same price (or less) if you decide you really must have clear taillights, aluminum pedals, or carbon door sills. Not so with the lift.
The experiences of those with the lift on the 997 GT3 aren't directly relatable to the 991 GT3 as the lip attachment to the bumper is different and the potential for expensive damage is a lot greater. As for those who have a 991 GT3 and have no regrets about skipping the lift in the few months they've owned their cars, I'll respectfully suggest that they are whistling past the graveyard; the day will come when they'll wish they had it.
My $.02, drop the other stuff and get the lift....

I was supposed to have 7-10 days left to make a change. When I went in to add the lift the car had locked. Of course on the bright side it is getting here about 40 days ahead of the original date. Just in time to plow the snow in my driveway on it's way into the garage.
