It allows for easy alignment and protection of the brake discs, especially pccb when taking off and putting on the wheel. Here is the part. It also has the 1/2" driver to use for the safety pin to get it to pop out all the way and align with the wheel bolt splines.

That doesn't seem necessary...

Don't forget you also need a tube of that nasty paste and a cooperative partner to hold the brake pedal while you torque- loosen- re-torque.

Irwin Quick Grip clamp reversed eliminates the need for a buddy to hold the brake.

I wonder if it's the 24" or the 32" version that is needed ?

I actually go to a tire shop to swap tires. They have all the tools, but sometimes they don't have the removal. It's a lot cheaper, I bought my 20' Michelin winter tires for 1800 dollars including tax(13% in the place in live) and installation.

Do we still need this with the PDK in park?

haven't done it myself yet, but have watched a number of times at the track always with someone in the driver seat to hold the brake.

If Porsche felt a manual left in 1st gear wasn't good enough then PDK-S in park isn't likely to be good enough.

Didn't 997.2 GTS have center locks and PDK?

I wouldn't trust a tire shop to know what they are doing when it comes to the center locks. I don't even know if I can trust a dealer....

I think they did pretty good, at least as good as the dealership, the owner of the tire shop has a RS 4.0, and he's been changing wheels and tires for his car for several years.

Anyone know what the “pressing out the drive shaft” feature of this tool means? Trying to figure out whether I need this one or the cheaper suncoast version. I would like to change brake pads and rotors at some point. Don’t know if that involves the drive shaft on this car.
