Sport Bucket seats are the greatest, even on long trips 7+ hrs of seat time.

Looking forward to my 991GT3 in Jan with the Lightweight Buckets. Hopefully they will offer the same support!

It's been a long journey since Feb, finally I'll get a car in Jan.

I'm assuming you speak from good experience.. Impressed that any seats would be good for that long but I'll take your word for it... Especially as these are so damn pretty!

7hrs is rough in any car, but I'll vouch for the sport buckets. Have them in my Spyder. Absolutely fantastic OEM seat. You guys are nuts if you pass on these. Can't imagine owning a Porsche without them.

My 997 GT3 M1 Had *** Seats (no sport buckets avail) After a long drive I was stiff and sore after hours.
My 997 GT3 M2 Has Sport Buckets. After many hours behind the wheel, I exit feeling fine.

Their upper back support is just great!

My only hope the Lightweights are as good

I had the GT3 buckets in my 996 and the GT2 buckets in my 997. I would have ordered them again with this car if they'd been available. That said, I found that on long trips, the fact that they held me in position so well became a drawback. The inability to change the position of the seat, or even move around much IN the seat, meant sitting pretty much in one posture for extended periods of time. Now matter how comfortable a basic seating position is, for me, not being able to change position starts my hips and back to ache. People are different, of course.

The buckets just aren't nearly as comfortable as the 18 way seats for long trips, IMVHO. I still would have ordered them, though....

Do we have confirmation that the buckets will work with 6-pt belts, with proper opening for the crotch belts?

The previous sport buckets had a proper opening for the crotch belts so I'd be shocked if these don't. Not confirmed though, AFAIK....

I'll be shocked too, but figured I better make sure, since I just ordered the car and included the bucket seats.

Do we know if the seats have the electric height adjustment?

Hmm, That doesn't sound good. Normally when u get electric seats they mount higher. Are the sliders manual? Are you sure they have electric height?

I guess the bottom line is since no one has seen the version of the seats that will be in the GT3 no one knows absolutely for sure. For example, the configurator says electric height adjustment, but as we all know the configurator has been wrong before.

Eduardo (Z356) make the point that the height adjustment is a (new?) US DOT requirement. The electric height adjustment is also on the driver's seat of the 918. You can see the slots for the 6 pt harness on the seat cushion in the configurator if you look closely.

As Mike pointed out I was simply recapping what configurator shows....sorry I did not mention, however a little birdy says that configurator is accurate on this one.

Just wondering if anyone knows more about the differences in the bucket seats that come with the 918. I went on the 918 configurator for kicks and noticed different options for the buckets. On the US configurator, there are two kinds of buckets-- Lightweight Bucket Seats (photo #1) and Lightweight Bucket Racing Seats (photo #2). The description states the seats are identical except for firmer foam on the latter. The German site shows the same seats. Interestingly, on the Canadian configurator (photo#3), there are 2 918 bucket options, but they are listed as Lightweight Bucket Seats and Lightweight Buckets Seats with tighter fit. There is no description given when you hit the info button, so I can't tell if the latter are the same as the US/German Racing Seats with denser foam, or if they are actually a different "tighter" shape. Does anyone know anything more about these?

And the reason why I'm posting this on the GT3 forum is then, I was curious if people anticipate the GT3 will get the regular buckets, or the racing version. You'd think they would offer the racing version since the reason why most would order buckets is to track the car. But strangely the description on the GT3 configurator reads mostly like the regular 918 buckets (apart from the line about low seat surface / centre of gravity). (FWIW, the Canadian GT3 configurator still does not list buckets even though they can be ordered.)

Just thought I'd throw this out there for interest and any comments.
