Hi guys,
Is there a way to know if a gt3 that was delivered to the showroom recently had a motor swap? I haven't asked my dealer yet if mine was affected in this mannor. Just want to know for piece of mind. Thanks.

Do you mean was done at all yet, or done only recently, or something else?

Are you concerned about asking the dealer? I don't know of any other way to know that. I think it is probably safe to say though that if it was freshly delivered to the dealership, there is no question it is with a proper new engine.

If it's a 2014, it had a motor swap. If it's a 2015, it didn't. Simple as that.

I was told by a dealer that 15-20 2014 cars that had been sold prior to the stop sale and subsequently bought back by Porsche are going to be auctioned by Porsche to dealers this month on the 18th or 19th. These cars as one other post had noted will be sole with a lemon law title as they are not "new" but do now have the engine swap done. I imagine they will have various mileage on the clock, but the engine will be new. This dealer was asking if I would be interested if the price was sticker, old him I'm out of the game as bought a new car last week. I guess if the color and options and such are a fit it could be an OK way to go but that lemon law not on the title never goes away. So if looking for a car quick, you might discuss this with your dealer.

That's crazy who would pay sticker for a lemon law tagged car? You can get at 2015 sticker minus the lemon aid car that you can't trade.

I'm about a week out from taking delivery of my MY14. I have been told my car was held on the line (or removed midline) and never received a motor the first time through. So supposedly it will have the first engine installed in it when I receive it. I personally am not concerned whether or not that is true, but I interested in seeing the paperwork to determine if this is true.

Can anyone confirm this? I don't think Porsche would give GT3 give low mileage, replacement motor (engine) cars a US black eye on purpose. Why would they? That's unless there's some law the manufacturer to follow. They could easily call the cars 15's and release them later.

This is the email my brother received from a Colorado dealer:

However, there is a unique opportunity coming up that would allow us to get you a GT3 very soon. There are about 20 cars that will be auctioned off to Porsche dealers. These GT3's are brand new cars that were affected by the motor issue and had the owners back out. The cars never made it to the dealerships, and they had the motors replaced at port like all the other GT3's sold to date. These cars will come with a 5 year or 100,000 mile warranty.

No, there is no mention of any lemon law, but I wonder if that is something that is state specific. Though I see a lemon law tag a reasonable thing given what happened.

If they never were delivered to a customer, I would be open to one of these cars given they would be sold at MSRP.

If they were never delivered to a retail customer than no Lemon law will apply. It will be interesting to see how much dealers will be paying for these and how much they will ultimately sell them for.

me as well. about a week from delivery. mine IS a 2014 and was told when it got the new engine, it was its first engine.

regardless, even if it was swapped out in our case it was done at the factory so who cares?
