If you do happen to get spanked at a track day, enjoy it. And marvel at the times we live in. Automotive-wise at least...
What concerns me much, much more is if Porsche decides to cancel the GT3 line or do away with NA track-day cars in favor of forced-induction just to be faster. Or due to possible future regulations.
I am a Porsche guy through & through, but am very tempted by the ZO6. Gotta have both really, if you can afford it. Can't go wrong either way though. Customers / enthusiasts win big time in this new golden era of performance cars. I just hope it never ends, whether they get more robust or faster, or both.

My thought is to get a Z06 for a DD, and part time track car. Then look around for a 74 RSR for vintage racing.
That would cover my needs, and being an old fart. The vintage racing would be fun. I was at my peak in the 70's.

Zeus -You are correct. As sport car Companies battle it out to top one another we, as consumers, reap the benefits from these technological advancements.
Have you see the new Corvette in flesh?? I think this is one car that the pictures does it service. The more I see it live the more I fall out of love with it.

I totally agree with you about the pictures, and the C7 is no longer something I want to even look at. That said, all pictures of the C7 Z06, including this grey one above, are stunning and I'm dying to see one in the flesh. Also, for the Camaro comparo, did that car's rear lights change so they no longer look like the Vette's? I may be noticing older cars but I think not. The Z06 has my potential interest and if I didn't hear and see reliability issues with previous models, I would have gotten on that list.

The Z06 looks great in person. Much better than the base stingray. I saw in NY at the auto show and both the coupe and convertible looked great. Very aggressive.

You won't get joy from fraction of a second differences.. You will however feel an intense pleasure in the front of your brain from steering feel through your dinner tips, or from the way weight transfers as a car enter and exits a corner, or as you glance at the shape of a fender as it sets in your garage at night.
Forget stats... Go for what turns you on.

The Boxster loaner I have been driving around this week is proof positive you don't need an 1000 hp uber-car to have a blast.
Previous generations of vettes have never been fun to drive IMO. No reason to believe that this one will magically be transformed into a car as precise, feelsome, intense as the GT3 despite being loads faster.
I've been passed by a bunch of other cars on track and have passed a bunch of cars. *shrug*

Taste is subjective but I must tell you in the flesh the C7 looks terrific. You could easily mistaken it for a Ferrari. More importantly, it does not look like a $70,000 car. It looks much more expensive.
A few months ago I saw a grey one in the parking lot. Several people were admiring the car. All believed the car cost in excess of a $100,000. When I told them the price, they were flabbergasted.
That said, I still prefer my GT3 if I ever see it.

That seems like a lot of options for a Vette.
