Real world experience: LED vs. Xenon headlights

You had me for a minute! I read your post and got all excited about blacked out LEDs for the GT3. I want the LEDs but I love the blacked out look of the Xenons. Does anyone know if the dealer can order blacked out Xenons for the GT3. Guessing not but worth asking.

I guess it could also simply be a sensor for the auto wipers..

I asked my dealer about PDLS+ for LEDs here in Canada (while we were test driving a Macan, and incidentally got in line for a hybrid Macan whenever it gets here--carbon offset for the GT3!). He thought in Canada we do have PDLS+ and there appears to be a forward-facing camera near the rearview mirror on other 911s with LEDs. Can anyone up in the great white north confirm they have this feature on their delivered GT3 too?

LED has only advantage as being lighter and longer lasting (when was the last time you changed your Xenon), yet it does NOT have any light output advantage to Xenon, and depending on implementation could be worse... I did read on this a while back but I can't remember the article URL. From the ones I've seen around, the LED has a more directional light output with lower lumens, which is to me a disadvantage.

Here are some pics of the lights (same) and the sensors/cameras (different)....

Any folks now seen the US-market LED and Bi-Xenon lights side by side and can comment on the real-world light output difference at night? I had heard that the US limited the lumen output of the high beams such that the output was actually identical.

No black out option for LED's was a no starter for me in addition to being hobbled for the US market. I really don't drive a car like this at night very often.

I'm definitely not a fan of the bright silver regular xenons, but the gray vs. black is an interesting question... don't want it to look too much like "panda" as they say...

^^I have the LEDs but I do not think it makes a whole lot of difference over the Bi-Xenons at night. I think the DRLs are pretty awesome and the double tubes look busier and more complete but other than that a pretty pricey upgrade- But - it does set it apart and does make it look more modern

The regular xenons are a bright silver, while the LED surrounds (and the PLDS xenons) are a medium gray, and there is course the black PLDS / xenon option. I'm definitely not a fan of the bright silver regular xenons, but the gray vs. black is an interesting question... don't want it to look too much like "panda" as they say...
