Anyone installed clear side markers yet?
Anyone done this yet and have any tips on the install? I watched a vid on the 991 forum and it looks like the marker just slides easily to the rear and pulls away from the fender but my markers don't seem to want to move that easily. Maybe it's the difference between the LED markers on the GT3 and the standard incandescent ones on the 991. Or maybe it's my technique. On my 997.2 there was a slot to insert a screwdriver in the fender liner and release the catch but no such thing exists on the GT3.
I don't have the new markers yet; maybe if I did it would be apparent how they go on. Anyway was just practicing to see if I could remove the old ones but didn't want to force anything. Suggestions?

I've done it, but I do not remember the process well, so may be describing it wrong. I think, I pulled the headlight slightly out to access the spring that needed to be pushed, pushed that spring and the lights popped out. The tool to unlock headlights is in the frunk tool box. The whole thing took under 10 minutes.

Thanks. It looks like if one can slide the light back against spring pressure far enough to disengage that front tab then the light should pivot out. That's how it looks to be done in the vid where the side marker moves quite easily. Mine don't want to move easily and I'm afraid to pry on it.

Yeah, the retention design appears to be identical to the 7.2 cars. I changed out these in both my prior cars myself. The hard part is getting that metal spring to pop out. It takes more force than one would think.

I may be not remembering it right, but I think sliding headlight forward opens up access to the retention spring on side markers. Maybe I'm confusing something. It's funny - I installed them, but in excitement forgot how exactly I did it.

I did these on my 991 Turbo S Cab. Do not use a tool, no need to mess with the headlights.
Slide it back (toward the wheel) slightly with your fingers (1/8 inch or so) to clear the plastic engagement hook from the catch then pull the end (the end that is nearest the wheel) towards you (away from the car) and out. This takes some force to release the spring but do not use a tool. A wire is attached so it will not come out very far.
To reinstall reverse the process. Make sure the plastic hook is engaged first as you slide it in then press the wheel side end back in to snap in the spring.

Or - when they pick up your car to do the engine replacement; just have your Dealer pop them on. This way you do not have to worry about possibly messing it up. They will not charge you after what we all have been thru.

On my TT Cab at delivery dealer put them on no charge. I will not change out the side markers on the GT3.
