We've speculated in the past that Porsche will go Hybrid or Turbocharged,but not everyone agrees that is the future. Here are 2 very important names that think otherwise and are willing to use their money and resources for further development of the internal combustion engines. Christian Von Koenigsegg is a fascinating man and the development of some of the technologies found in his engines are brilliant. Porsche,among other manufacturers can definitely start taking notes. Here's the future of the valvetrain :

Yes. The point is no hybrid technology in Lamborghini and Koenigsegg's near future,stated by their Presidents.
Why this can be relevant to the future of NA internal combustion engines? Because there are technologies out there(the valvetrain with cylinder deactivation is one example) that can be used in order to make internal combustion engines more efficient thus delaying the full blown hybrid ever so disliked by many enthusiasts.

Regardless of the future, Porsche has a magnificent past. Like air-cooled? check. AWD? check. Turbo? check. Mezger? check.

I think the future will also reflect the needs of the future, and the tastes of an emerging generation. For me, at 65, the 991RS might be my final really edgy car buy, and I will hang on to some older cars. If I were 18, I think my views would be different, with no reference to the past and all view to the new.

Man, this did sound terrible. I think downsizing and FI/hybrid are definite for Porsche. I may end up keeping the 991 GT3 (RS) forever. I also placed an order for a 2015 Panamera GTS, as it may be the last of the NA engines in that lineup.
