GT3 a bargain

I've just been doing some man maths to justify the GT3 purchase and thought I'd share it.
If you option up a C2S as close as you can to a GT3 it costs £100,694. Options include aerokit, uk 50-yr power kit, platinum painted wheels, PDK, tyre pressure monitoring, 4-way seats, sport design exterior mirrors, PASM sport suspension, alcantara sport design steering wheel and PDK gear selector.
The equivalent GT3 costs £104,195. That's slightly above base due to options added to match the C2S with UK 50yr PowerKit spec (PCM, DAB radio, Sports Chrono, telephone module) So the GT3 is £3,501 more expensive.
But for that you get 45hp more and 9,000 rpm due to loads of engine mods, proper dry sump lube, PDK-S, upgraded electronic diff, wider, stickier tyres, much cooler alloys with centre locks, improved steering feel, rear wheel steering, adjustable suspension for track use, upgraded and larger diameter brakes, wider body, sound package plus. Basically the car is much faster, handles better and by all accounts feels much more special.
On a connected note, there are quite a few second-hand examples on UK websites at the moment at approx. £15k over the ticket price.

Yep, historically always has been the case. A highly optioned C2S/C4S will cost the same or more as a GT3. The majority of the public doesn't know the differences between all the 911 variants!

Agreed. When you look at what you get in a GT3 vs an optioned up 991, the GT3 looks really good.
Now consider how the GT3s have historically held up on resale vs. the relatively fast depreciation of the regular cars. If that pattern continues the GT3 is a much better value.

To put in a different perspective, my 991 C2S had an MSRP of 131k, but it's not for things standard on the GT3. For instance, I have all the convenience packages, full leather, and Burmester. That said, I would have taken the GT3 in a heartbeat and look forward to the prices coming down a bit and more availability.

Problem is getting one. I'd love to.
