Question GT3 as DD ?

Who uses their GT3 as a DD...and does it work out well. I'm thinking of ordering a GT3 to replace my current 991c2s w/7mt DD. How is the GT3 in day to day traffic, parking lot entrances, ect.. I drive about 20k miles per year in Atlanta area traffic and have 30k miles on my 991s now. So, it would have ~50k miles of it when I would likely delivery of my GT3.

This is a question only you can answer. Asking here, you're only going to get opinions and the bias of other people's predilections.

I can share my own experiences. My GT3 was a semi-daily driver. I found it too stressful to take it out on the town at night, where I'd have to deal with parking lots, valets, etc. I was always worried it was going to get dinged. It was also draining to drive it in bumper-to-bumper traffic for more than a few miles. Living in silicon valley, the traffic is terrible and sometimes it takes me well over an hour to drive a mere 15 miles.

With my RS, I basically stopped driving it at all on the streets. Mainly because it was slowly modified with race bits to make a track weapon, and therefore a lousy street car. But also because I had so many people gawk at me when driving it. Having someone hang out their window to snap a pic while driving along the freeway at 80mph is not cool. I was always nervous that someone was going to hit me.

Yes, you can drive it daily. The 991 version is much more DD friendly than earlier generations. That is attributable in large part to the PDK transmission. It is basically a street car with track focus as porsche puts it. The RS on the other hand will be more of a track car that is street legal.

If you are worried about parking lot entrances order the lifter option.

Definitely, just put PSS instead of the SC2 for better wear and rain performance.

GT3 as a DD....?
Sure it's fun at first, but it gets very tedious as time goes on and the novelty of newness wears off.
They are great cars, but definitely not your first choice as a DD...

991 suspension and PDK makes the new GT3 far more usable as a daily driver then past iterations.

Is the GT3 double galvanized for winter? I am thinking about DD'ing one in Toronto with all the salt and slush on the roads.

Great thread - I was asking myself the same Q!

Frank you will not have an issue with DD 991 GT3.
A little lower than your 991S but no issue
Bigger issue will be if you can live without MT

I like RWD as well. All my 911's are/have been RWD. But I wouldn't drive them in our winters as a DD. If you had snow tires and avoided deep snow maybe.......but still.
