Default Test drove a 991 Turbo S today

It was a big disappointment in terms of sound and overall driving fun factor. It felt more like driving a super fast luxury sedan (be it a small sized one) than a sports car. Even my earlier 991 C2S had more personality. The 458 is a totally emotional drama compared to this.

So may be in 10-15 years when I am 50+ and want a very practical speeding bullet, the turbo will come to mind.

So that leaves the GT3 as the only car I could consider coming back to porsche with. Except that I haven't driven it yet. Dealer apparently had a demo Gt3 to test drive but one of the local rulers took it off them, and now they expect their next demo car to arrive in May. I told them I am in no rush since my 458 is only 5 months old. Gt3 does seem to be a similar package to the 458 in terms of being rwd, n/a and 9000 rpm.

note: i don't recommend using launch control on the turbo if you are prone to motion sickness. Just one time shook my head so that I didn't feel right for a while. A couple of times more and I would have thrown up. The salesperson felt the same way, and he has had other test drivers who had actually thrown up after launch control.

I don't think 50+ will fix that boredom. I'm > 50, feel like <40, but was bored to death with my turbo. Once I went gt3, I'd never go back and will likely go RS.

Yeah, stick with your beautiful 458 for a bit.

Good advice, that I will likely follow. But you know it's human nature that as soon as you get your toy that you anticipated and waited long for, you immediately start anticipating what your next one will be

I don't think the GT3 will give you more emotion than the 458

The 458 is the best sport car

I tend to agree and also feel that way. But I am thinking about the Gt3 because something prevents me from using the 458 as a daily beater which is how I would like to use the gt3. I can handle the stiff suspension, loud sound etc.. i just don't like to worry about parking.

To sum it, I would like an emotional daily beater if that makes any sense.

that depends on a lot of subjective factors, however, I would consider which you plan to drive more. Miles can hurt the F car much more. That depends if you care about resale values.

It would be a tough decision for me too. Have not driven a 458 so it's harder to choose for me. Knowing a gt3, I'd go the safe, known path.

That's a tough one and I hesitate to help you with that decision. Best of luck and great to be your position.

Agree fully. test drove the Turbo S (one day after test driving the 991GT3).
Was bored too. Had an 997GT3RS/2 - sold it . Turbo S was not able to fix me up again - ordered the GT3
Peter who is 55

i totally agree. the turbo S feels sterile. i would have never thought that a car could be so fast and so boring at the same time. after the test-drive i changed back to my F458 and....oh boy did it feel alive. at this point the only porsches i'd consider are the cayman S and the GT3.

both are wonderful cars. i feel that the F458 has a more dual personality, it is a total pussycat in WET mode and a ferocious animal in RACE. it comes with parking sensors, rear view cam .....probably it is the more apt daily driver except for parking and depreciation issues.
i love it to bits but fancy a GT3.....::))

Always drive a car before deciding you love it. I recently took a 458 out and was shockingly not that enamored.
