Default Ordering advice

Hi, I'm new to the forum and looking for advice on purchasing a 991 GT3 which I intend to use for track days. So I'd like to configure the car with track days in mind, but not exclude features that would make the car enjoyable to drive on a trip. I've got a bunch of questions:

1. What's the typical deposit and delivery time?

2. If I order soon, will I likely get a 2014 or 2015 model? If I'm near the model year switchover, should I wait for a 2015?

3. What options are widely recommended and discouraged?

4. In particular, what about Sport Seats vs Adaptive Sport Seats?

5. Are ceramic brakes worth it? With track days, I'm thinking it might be pretty $$$$. OTOH, what the heck! Seriously, what are your thoughts?

6. Front axle lift?

7. Should I expect to pay MSRP or more (and if so, how much more)?

8. As I understand it, once you place an order you can still make changes to it until shortly before the actual build begins, is that correct?

9. Are there any factory options for 5 point racing seat belts? I didn't see any on the website, so I assume no, but want to make sure.

Thanks!

Deven

1. What's the typical deposit and delivery time?
===> if you dont have allocation at this time, you are not going to get one unless you pay a hefty premium. delivery time depends on what allocation you have.

2. If I order soon, will I likely get a 2014 or 2015 model? If I'm near the model year switchover, should I wait for a 2015?
===> 2014, historically, the 2nd year has very few cars available. and if you can get a 991GT3, just take it. dont wait for 2015. at this point, you may have to the the Pope in order to get one. so dont be silly picky.

3. What options are widely recommended and discouraged?
==> gawed. search and you should find 20 thousand threads. deveiating stitching in flourescent fusia is most poplular, front lift is manly, and full leather smells great.

4. In particular, what about Sport Seats vs Adaptive Sport Seats?
===> same feel, but if you like a lot of buttons to push, get the *** seat.

5. Are ceramic brakes worth it? With track days, I'm thinking it might be pretty $$$$. OTOH, what the heck! Seriously, what are your thoughts?
===> if cost on issue, ceramic is the way.

6. Front axle lift?
==> 75% love them. the others not so much.

7. Should I expect to pay MSRP or more (and if so, how much more)?
===> if you asked this question, it's clear u dont have allocation, 10-30k over msrp would be reality.

8. As I understand it, once you place an order you can still make changes to it until shortly before the actual build begins, is that correct?

yes, up to certain dates, then it's locked down.

9. Are there any factory options for 5 point racing seat belts? I didn't see any on the website, so I assume no, but want to make sure.
===> non from factory adn the oem seat has no haness holes for u to run harness. you need aftermkt seats and harness.

Before answering your questions you need to get an allocation. That's where you will have the problem. There are no cars available to order, they've all been sold. If you called every dealer in the country, you might get lucky and have someone back out of an order. But even then, most dealers have a list multiple people deep.

Consider paying $25,000-$30,000 over sticker to get one new, or look for still over MSRP in the used market in a few months.

if you don't have a spot on your dealers list, chances of getting one are somewhat slim for the near future...i'm told "maybe q4 of 2104"...my first thought was they'll make them like cookies knowing people want them, but in fact the opposite is more likely true

you should simply inquire at your local dealer, and see what they tell you - you will find a cars over msrp, but unless you "absolutely gotta have it" you really shouldn't pay more than msrp - the last gt3rs was discounted 10k or more when the steam behind the desire for it died down...but that is way far ahead in the timeline

good luck

The last gt3RS was discounted $10k??? Hardly an accurate indication of new .2 RS sales. The economy was horrific, however, I believe discounts were not plentiful. There were exceptions, however, $10k off was not the norm.

I think jlee504 just found out about a recent allocation that popped up. I'd PM him.

If you don't have an allocation and want a guarantee to get one, order a 918 Spyder. You will get a 991GT3 whenever you want it with a Porsche ribbon.

400k is a helluva markup for a GT3.

Just over half of the 918 to be produced sold.

Actually I've had several dealers call me back in the last week after I canvased the country.

It does appear new allocations are randomly popping up. Not sure why or how, it "appears" those that are selling euro delivery cars are getting extra.

I would stay on top of it, it's a lot of work. I regret waiting like an idiot for my local dealers and didn't take it nationwide in November. I would have a January / February car.

The P1 is sold out and so is the LaFiat but not the 918? That's interesting.
