Default My production date was delayed 6 weeks because I added Anthracite trim

Has anyone experienced a major delay due to an option change? My date moved from 2/21 to 4/4 just because I added Anthracite trim option. I am hoping this is some error, but won't know until tomorrow I guess. If this is true, I hope that by switching back I can get my 2/21 production back. Somehow I doubt it. This process is wearing me out, but it is never dull.

On November 18th I added the Front Axle Lift prior to my December lock and my delivery got pushed back from late March to late April now. Good luck!

I added anthracite trim on 12/27 after ordering on 12/23 and my date did not change. Build date is 3/12. Lock date is 2/14.

I had two delays. The second delay was only one week but I'm not sure it's because I added extended dash in leather. It did happen right after I made the change. I'm sure it's unrelated.

My dates changed immediately after the option change and this is no small delay. PCNA regional rep has been contacted. When the Anthracite was removed, I still had my now 6 week delay.

Well, it could be some wild coincidence but that's a long shot. I will let you know what PCNA rep says, but I never imagined this possibility.

Hey Nick- how would the sales guy be alerted to this? He said product delays are flagged in the system before you choose the option and there were no such warnings nor memos. He was as surprised as me. Are you suggesting that the sales rep call PCNA before each option change is made? Would they even know? Isn't that the point of a freeze date? Just trying to understand this, so any insight you have would be appreciated.

The sales guy should know. If your order has been accepted by PCNA and then you want to add or change an option, he/she could call PCNA or Regional rep and find out what the ramifications are by changing your order. More often than not they will be told it could delay the production date. Sometimes it is not a problem and changes can be made without delay in production.

I suspect your sales guy just processed your request without ascertaining if it will delay production.

You are right that Exclusive options sometimes delay production, but my SA said that those options are flagged and he is warned prior to order entry that a delay may result. He then has the option of killing the change order.

With respect to Anthracite trim, it is NOT listed as a Porsche Exclusive option, and no such warning occurred. This was just an unexpected and undesirable delay.

One positive is that the delay is now 4 weeks vs. 6 weeks, but I remain disappointed. Caveat Emptor to those who make changes I suppose. Porsche cannot possibly wish to cause me to cancel proposed option additions since they make significant profit from each option.

I called today on my exclusive options all of which are painted trim pieces so word is 1 piece = +$100 + 2day build time and the other pieces are +$500 + 10 day extra on build time. I confirmed this today with emails from my dealer and Porsche my freeze point 2/7 and est dealer delivery 4/28 car will be delivered to a dealer in mid west.

I went ahead and added the sport chrono clock. The dealer indicated that I had no additional delay as a result. I wonder how sophisticated the Porsche ordering system is - it's either extremely sophisticated or a complete disaster - tough to tell.

oops that is....

estimated delivery date to dealer 4/28 + 10 days for exclusive options....which might as well be 10 months in my weak emotional state.
